As much as it sucks, I can't put it off much longer. I need new glasses. My old ones are getting pretty scratched up, and this is different than when my shades get scratched up; because even scratched up, the shades still perform their required function, but my regular glasses do NOT perform so well when they're scratched up. So I'm in the market.
I'm thinking of trying something different this time. I went through my phase in the 90s where I wore a lot of sexy schoolteacher type glasses (larger round lens browline type), and for the last 15 years or so I've favored slim rectangle frames. I think I want to go for something a bit quirkier or more dramatic this time. I'm kind of inspired by Iris Apfel, who has her trademark oversized glasses. Collages of the indomitable Iris for reference
* I toyed with the idea of a red heart shaped frame, but I'm afraid I couldn't take myself seriously with those on
* I rather like the pink ones, but do they look ok on me? I have a mental trauma around my mom telling my a fuschia sweater matched my hair too closely one time, so I can never tell if a pink is ok on me or not anymore LOL
* the purple ones are nice, but I don't think they have enough presence to live up to what I want
* I like the blue frame (sans tint) but I also don't mind the black version of it
* I like the white version better but I ain't mad at the black one
* I only kept the try-on of the red and the pink because the blue try-on just didn't come out well. I like all three versions of this frame, but the red seems to have the most presence
* I like this one, but it's another one that probably doesn't have the presence I want.
* next up, a blue frame. I wouldn't do it with a tinted lens, but I couldn't find a way to do a try-on without the tint
* I really like this ivory one, but the try-on seems weirdly gold/green. Their try on kinda sucks for anything that's not a very bold, saturated color
* I love these, but can't decide if I want to do something that delicate. They might be a good contender for shades if not as glasses?
* if I'm going for quirk, these blue ones seem to have it in spade
* another delightfully quirky pair of blue ones
* fun pink ones
* kinda cool, can't decide if I like the black or white better. Neither is my most favorite, though
I think we can probably discount the red heart shaped ones and the last ones in either color. However, I am open to convincing arguments in favor of either of them.
All thoughts, suggestions, preferences, critiques, and advice is welcome and appreciated. Even though it's Zenni optical and therefore very very affordable, I'd still rather only have to do this once every year or two. I'm fortunate that my prescription hasn't changed in almost 25 years, except for the addition of the reading part, so if I can keep from damaging my glasses then they last me a good while.
Thank you for your help! XO
