Help me pick a yellow day clutch

Hi ladies! I've missed commenting here, things have been so crazy for me lately (but I still browse almost every day).

I'm seriously considering getting a yellow day clutch. I don't have a strong preference for materials (but lean towards patent of some sort, or pebbled leather), and I'd like a pretty simple design. I'm also not very comfortable with clutches over 11-12-13 inches in width. Right now I'm gravitating towards designs with cutout handles, and I also prefer secure closures like zippers or turnlocks. I don't discount magnetic closures, for example the HOBO Katrina (the one Angie mentioned some time ago) has very strong snaps. As for the exact shade of yellow, I fall somewhere in the middle between very cool and very warm.

Alright, here's what I've narrowed down:

HOBO Katrina in citron. I have this at home right now. I like the design, but I'm a little ambivalent about the color. It's a little too green for me and I'm going to look through my closet and see if it's going to work. I remember Angie blogged about this color here: http://youlookfab.com/2008/03/.....on-citron/. I also wonder if this color is limited to summer wear only?

Lodis in lemon yellow. I have it at home right now and the color is a very warm golden yellow. I really like the quality and detail of this clutch, but it's also a tiny bit small.

This is not at all an emergency. I'm just starting my search. Do you think yellow acessories will stick around for a while, so will there be more choice next year?

Lena I think yellow will come and go as an "in" colour (there seems to be a couple rotated through every season). Buying an all-yellow jumpsuit might date, however I think yellow accessories are always going to be funky and make outfits pop.

Not that I own any yellow - I remember my Mum telling me it made me look jaundiced when I was younger and I have steered clear of it since! However I think it looks so cheery that I am very keen to give some yellow accessories a go!

That Estelle clutch is great - I love the way it looks like an envelope!!!!

Hmm citron color looks more like lime green on my monitor. I really like the shape of Katrina and I've seen it in real life - maybe you should get it in winter white? I actually think - and I might be wrong - that the saffron color is more summery that this citron. From what I can see on my monitor, I like the Nine West color best, but I usually don't like the way their fake stuff looks in real life. I also like the shape of Eden clutch a lot. It's probably not very helpful!

My favorite is the HOBO Estelle in saffron. It doesn't look like a bright lemon yellow color, but is more subtle and can be paired with lots of different things. I also like the HOBO International Belinda Clutch in Winter White.

I'm not sure about the "in" factor of yellow, but I think you can get use out of something like a purse for some time since it is just a small piece that adds a pop of color.

I like either HOBO clutch in the saffron color. I don't think the color citron will have as much staying power, the lemon yellow is too bright like a traffic sign.
Saffron does seem more goldish and might be for autumn and winter.

Hi Lena, I really like the Hobo Estelle one in saffron, too. And that's definitely a good winter (and year round) color.

It might be my monitor, but the first one ("citron") is very neon on my monitor and might be a bit too much. And the second one doesn't look like "lemon" to me, but more like buttercup/marigold, that type of yellow. So if these look different for you and/or in real life, it's hard to comment on the colors

In general I think yellow is a great year round color, though I'd go with darker yellows in the fall/winter, like mustard, saffron. Many of the links are great!

Lena, I love that Lodis one...the warmth and pop of that color, and I like the texture of it too, with all the holes. I have a couple of wallets from Lodis and they seem like very good quality to me. My second choice is the Hobo Estelle, that looks like an envelope. Very cute!

A great idea, Lena. It’s FOUL weather at the moment - about to snow. I’m going out tonight and sporting my yellow clutch!

I have a clear favourite – the Eden. The Estelle comes in second with the Katrina (but not in citron). Keep us posted on your decision.

None of these look true yellow to me (at least on my monitor) and of all the choices, I like the first one best, even though it is more like lime green.

I've decided to return the citron Katrina (because it's too fluorescent greenish) and the Lodis (it's very nice but too small. Watch me eat my words later if I decide on a smaller clutch afterall )

I just noticed that the Eden has a handle in the back. I really like the overall shape and color, but the handle could be a deal breaker, so I'm considering a trial run. I was ambivalent about the Estelle and I've perked up again now that so many of you mentioned it as favorite.

The Dana like a cross between the Eden and the Belinda, doesn't it? Unfortunately it's also smaller than all the others (7'). Hmm, looks like I need to figure out which size I need: something smaller that can fit into another bag or something bigger that's a statement piece on its own. Decision, decisions.

Plus I still like the Katrina, especially in cream or navy.

Ok, what I need to do is stop obsessing about it for a while and wait for serendipity. I don't make good choices when I'm desperate.

The Dana is yum! Decisions, decisions, Lena. I’ve seen most of the hobo clutches in the flesh. They are nicely made.

It snowed last night. But the sun is shining right now and it’s gorgeous at the moment. More snow on the way and below freezing temperatures all week. It’s very pretty, extremely cold and icy on the roads. My puffers are coming out to play. You wrap up warmly too Lena.
