Help me pick a wash for a denim jacket!

Inspired by Angie's post on refreshing her denim capsule, I think I'll finally bite the bullet and get the KUT from the Kloth Helena denim jacket. Seems like I'll probably size up from an M to an L based on reviews.

In the summer, I occasionally add a denim jacket to my business casual looks (not for meetings, but for kicking around the office), so this will go over tanks, blouses, and dresses in brights, whites, florals and stripes.

But I'm stumped by which wash to go with!

I have an Old Navy denim jacket in a medium blue wash and love it's versatility (similar to #1), it's not great quality and this could be a good replacement. I'm drawn to the lighter washes (#2 or #3) for the warmer weather but also really dig that dark moody wash (#4).

So what's the vote?

From my own experience back when I did wear mine, I'd say go for the medium wash (I have a dark wash jacket and felt like it was really too dark for spring/summer wear).

I like the medium wash too.
I have a light wash denim jacket (as in #2) and I like it for a denim on denim look with mid or dark wash jeans. Works well.

I like the medium wash but I have two--a medium wash and a darker wash. The medium wash is slightly oversized and the darker wash is more fitted -- better with dresses or skirts.

For me, how versatile it'll be depends a lot on how it'll synch with the other factors.

If I already know what they are, context, clothing colors, etc., it's much easier to choose.

Medium wash does seem middle of the road, and very wearable, but for summer, I think the light washes, especially a little fitted could look stylish and deliberate

I bought the Helena in white last summer and love it, but came sooo close to choosing the light wash (#3) instead. I really like the texture and contrast on that one.

I like #3. If you had a white one I would suggest the darker wash. #3 definitely seems summery.

After staring at them in my browser for a while, and with Angie's blessing, I'm going for a lighter wash. I think #2 is my winner.

I have a denim jacket in a wash similar to 3 and never reach for it because it needs to be worn with murky colors. 2 will work better with more shades of color and is a great summer color

The best news is that you can’t go wrong with a denim jacket, so pick the shade that makes you the happiest. I hope to see some of your outfits with your new light wash denim.

I agree a light wash. I say that because a friend has one and it really seems to make her outfits pop that little bit more.
