Help me pick a new opera dress

I adore Mary Katrantzou prints, but her stuff is not cheap.
Found these on sale:
#1 Has Appaloosa, I grew up in Appaloosa country. I like the purple, but it has a lot of yellow, which is one of my worst colors.

I love #1, Anna. My only concern is the scrolling over the boobage. Just depends on where it hits your body.

Okay, my favorite is #2, but I so worry about where the triangle is going to fall on your body. I think any of these would have be tried on to see, and I always hate saying that when you have to pay to ship and pay to return.

To my untrained eye, I like #2 the best - great colours, patterns, everything. That said, I would like to see it on you to be a better judge of the fit. For dresses like this, trying on is really crucial to prevent any impending wardrobe disasters.

Wow these are really nice but agree they have to be tried for the pattern placement. I can see you in any of them. I feel the same way about yellow on myself but still love yellow. In this case (dress 1) it is on the arms mostly so I think it could work quite well.

Wow! You've got a great eye, and I LOVE these dresses. I truly think you could tear up the town in #1 and I really like the purple and yellow (not that much yellow and it's balanced with all the other amazing elements of the dress!). Pick one of them, please.

If you love #1, then buy it! The purple is right next to your face and the gold is much lower and cut off by a lot of white (and black) space. I bet it will look fantastic on you. The yellow will echo your long, flowing, golden mane, errr I mean hair, but won't be close enough to make your skin look sallow. Besides, I love leopard spot Appys too.

They are all so striking. When looking at them on the models, #3 is most flattering to my eye, followed by #2. While I like the pattern on #1, I'm not sure about the swirls on the boobs and it looks like a zipper in the middle. I really like #2 on the model and the colors are very pretty. So I vote #2!

I like the purple and yellow one a lot. The yellow is on the arms, away from the face, so I think it could work.

Both are great. #2 does seem a bit more of a universal, year-round color though.

I wouldn't worry about any of these being staid as I think they are all striking and it is only now that they are seen in comparison to each other. I like number 2 the best, but if you are drawn to the Appaloosas that could trump other considerations. As others have said, print placement may be a primary factor in all of these. The circle line on the rear view catches my eye in that regard.

Thank you for sharing these. I saw her pencil skirt and fell in love. It is quite a splurge and would be for my completely imaginary life, but I appreciate its beauty.

Hm, overall I love #2 the best because of the colors and the way the body is divided up... the vertical lines on the arms seem much more flattering than the purple shoulders and horizontal lines on #1. But that said, I like #1, too. It would come down to how it looks on.

I surprise myself by preferring #1. I would normally go for a pattern with more black in it like #2, but the dueling boob birds on #2 and #3 somehow make seeing the rest of the dress difficult for me (pattern placement). The scrolling would be far easier to work with, IMO. And I don't think the yellow becomes an issue since it isn't at the top of the dress.

Anna, I think you'd look amazing in #1. I totally hear you on the yellow (I have the same problem). But the yellow is not near your face and yet would pick up the golds in your hair; meanwhile, your face would be flattered by the purples. It's beautiful and fun -- give it a try!

Love #1, I think you'd look fab in that one. The color placement isn't bad at all, as others mentioned I think it's far enough away from your face to simply be accenting.

#1 gets my vote - it's so perfect! I don't really see the yellow as a stand-out color. To me, it is just making the purples and pinks look more vibrant. I think you'll look gorgeous in it!

Love me some Mary Katrantzou prints (not that I own anything with one but I can dream).

Number one is the 'one' for you. The colours are incredible and the print is to die for.

The all look very pretty and I don't think you could go wrong with either 1 or 2 (or 3 if I comes back in your size). FWIW, I like 2 the best.

The girl from Appalossa County should have the Appalossa dress. The swirls don't look like they would be right on your boobage the way the birds would be in #2.
