Help me pick a bag - YouLookFab Forum

I know I have not posted for a while:-( I am in the market for a 'neutral' bag that will work business to smart casual. And then I saw this lovely mustard bag... I love everything about it but the colour is a total wild card for me as I tend to neutrals with touches of blues and magentas. I saw some other neutral bags from a cognac, a warm taupe, white and a maroon ready. These colours feel very sensible for me but none are lighting my fires like the mustard. Which should I choose dear YLFers? I was able to take a photo to consider overnight... the mustard has shown up far brighter than it is IRL and the others duller. When I was looking for guidance on my pinterest board I found a pic with someone with my colouring wearing this colour in shoes if that changes anything... Thank you for your thoughts!

Go for it. I have two yellow bags and they work as pops of color for me. Very versatile color for me at least as it goes well with blues and reds and neutrals as well. Thumbs up from me. Plus it makes your heart sing

I agree with abc. Your bag can be your bright accent, since you prefer neutrals. It'll go well with all neutrals, as well as blue and magenta.

As for colouring, I don't think accessories apply. Colour analysis is more to help you choose colors that come nearer to your face and hence flatter your natural colouring and make you look radiant. Accessorize with any colour you like!

I have a mustard colored bag. I guess it's the color of ballpark mustard. I love it with both dark blue and olive. It's definitely not in my current color scheme, but as Maneera said, it doesn't really matter. I don't use it on a regular basis mainly because it's small.

I bought a golden yellow handbag 5 years ago, and it has become a workhorse in my wardrobe. I was amazed how many things I could/did wear it with. I had thought it would e a primarily "fall season" bag, but I use it year around.... If it wears out I will have to replace it because it looks great with so much for me. So....yeah, I would definitely buy it!

I still miss my mustard bag. It wore itself out (a cheapie just to try the colour) and worked brilliantly with all my cool blues, greys, and even the fuchsias. It will work equally well in your own closet and provide a much needed burst of sunshine. Try it. What's to lose?

Thanks everyone - it sounds like this is must buy... i actually like the warm contrast it would give to my cool colours better than cognac ... I hope it will still be there in the morning...

Definitely the mustard. I would suggest it could play as a neutral. For some reason I find myself very attracted to this colour in bags also. I thought it about it too long a few months ago and missed out on a stunning one...buy it, buy it now x

I had a mustard bag that was too small. I gave it to my DD, but I kept the tassel and it keeps me company on my cognac bags. I like the tiny pop of color. It's happy sunshine!

Yeah - the mustard bag was still there this morning; at 50% off too.... it is beautiful italian leather... I didn't even get it put into a bag and used it touring around all day and it is very comfortable to wear and looks nice. I then splurged on a fantastic new va voom bra and a bright lipstick... I feel like a new woman! I think this is why you need holidays and time to ponder....

I love it! I had a pair of mustard shoes and I found them to be very versatile. I have a bright yellow bag that works well as that pop of color but would actually prefer to have one more in the mustard range.

I have lived sensibly my whole life. When I bought my first fuchsia colored purse, it became my signature piece (I now own three). I use them all the time and the joy has never dissipated. I can only wonder why I didn't buy something like this years ago.

I vote for "go for it." It too could become your signature piece.

I'm so glad that you got the bag and love the idea of a mustard or fushia bag becoming a signature. A good friend always carries a purple bag and it looks wonderful with whatever she is wearing.

I am obviously late to vote, but you made the right decision in the meantime and that's great news. Speaking from experience (although my motifs of buying one during long, cold English winter might be completely different to yours), (b)rightly coloured bag is a delightful addition to the wardrobe with high happiness factor. Better than in my case, your is Italian leather - sounds like longevity potential is high too. And the news of the bra and lipstick seal the whole thing. Wear and enjoy.

Mustard! a happy color. Late to vote but a confirmation. My daughter has a mustard bag that she LOVES. Bags are jewelry pieces and you can use this bag in dozens of ways, not to mention just hanging it where you can see it -- to add that smile everyday.

Did you get the mustard? I've had a bag this color for a few years now. I'm actually on my second version. I wear absolutely no yellow clothes, but I find the accent is a welcome addition to my cobalt, raspberry, black, white and grey items. I wear it from spring to warm autumn. I do have a white bucket bag that I'm enjoying as well this summer.
