Help me pack non-clothing necessities for Sundance!

I am going to put together an outfit series in a separate post so this is more about other needs. Since I am going for 6 days and there will be at least one 'event' each night, as well as days spent racing around, I need to be completely organized. Not my strong suit. I have all the usual necessities but am afraid I am overlooking details.

So, wise ones, what should I bring that will prove useful on an all-out film-watching and party circuit in a cold, dry mountain town and to keep my sister and me looking and feeling photo-worthy?

I did remember fashion tape, makeup wipes and lip balm... Advil, Visine?

Hand cream! Moisturizer! Mini-humidifier? Or maybe the hotel actually has them....reserve one ahead of time.

Some clothes that will allow you to get outdoors and exercise some.

OMG, you reminded me: swimsuit! There's a heated outdoor pool at the hotel, like a giant hot tub. I wish I could take my ski clothes... There is both downhill and X-country. I wonder if I should just throw all the gear in a duffel and check it, as I could survive if it got delayed on the way?

Anna, you're motivating me! I was miserable last year, because there was JUST NO TIME. But I'd have to pack ski pants and goggles, and I guess I could rent skis and boots. Chances are I would ski in town and not at the big ski area because there is just too much going on.

Just buy a 1/2 ticket and get like 4 or 5 runs in.

If it were me, I'd bring black skinnies and serious black boots as my outfit base for every day. Over that is an awesome cashmere sweater tunic, then a great warm casual winter coat and hat. At least one dramatic cashmere scarf. Very warm gloves that fit into a pocket. For dressing up, swap the top for something sexy or fitted. For crazy dressing up, swap out the skinnies as well. At least one cashmere dress, to be paired with scarf. Major earrings. Maybe a dramatic jacket if it fits under warm coat.

I always also bring hand lotion. The hardcore kind. My husband swears by melatonin for jet lag. Theraflu, the packet kind that you put in hot water. Make sure your room has a humidifier and drink a lot of water.

ETA: Oops, included clothing. Oh well.

It's incredibly dry, IK - it's at a really high elevation, and I could literally feel the moisture being sucked out of my skin. I'm in a cold climate too, but at sea level and the difference was shocking.

Yep, that's my basic formula not counting what I have for evening events (gold skirt, leather skinnies)!

Hm... some things that come to mind...

- tweezers
- quite possibly all your makeup
- can you take those face mist things on the plane? o_0 (since you said it's dry)
- a good makeup setter, since your look has to last all day
- Certain Dry or similar
- sanitizing hand lotion
- purse atomizer with fave scent
- nail clippers in case of dry-hand-related hangnails
- fiber capsules (*shrug* maybe this is just me, but it seems to help with bloat when eating away from home)

If you can't get a humidifier, I just put a glass or a dish of water on top of the heat register.

My tip for something to bring is ... pads. I always forget. They are helpful also for first aid!

I suddenly realized that you meant inside. To me, snow is defacto wet. We go to park city to ski every year, so I'm trying to think of anything special... Face moisturizer and eye lotion!

My friends who go to Sundance dress like hoboes for the film viewings, so I wouldn't worry about the daytime outfits as much.

HAHA! I think of snow as dry. Rain is wet!

I saw how people dressed last year and I have that down. This year is far more event-laden, though, because my sister is a director and because of her particular film.

I'm surprised that Park City feels dryer than Alaska in winter.

I used to live at 6000 feet and really good lotion is important. Since I like Aquaphor for my hands and lips, I keep a small tube of it in my pocket when I'm going to be outdoors all day. I find being proactive with it on my fingers in particular has helped keep them from cracking.

First, don't panic ! Luckily, you will be able to buy anything that you might need there.

Second, this is an opportunity to get one my all-time favorite things ! A Pinch mini emergency kit. I have one in polka dots. Fab, fab, fab !!!

Sunscreen--if the sun is out and you are wearing your sunglasses you can get quite a burn on your nose at higher altitudes in the winter. Matching your nose to the red carpet isn't advised, nor is the raccoon look.

Anti-static stuff for your hair unless you are interested in looking like you stuck your finger in an electric socket when you remove your hat. I use a drop of silicone shine on my hair to keep things under control.

Hand sanitizer to use discreetly after shaking hands, opening doors, etc. I'm not usually into disinfecting everything, but, in the winter, you can be sure that someone is going to be sneezing and sniffling in your vicinity.

A small tube of Vaseline. Cheap, but very effective if you need to counteract flaking skin anywhere on your face, hands, or body.

A travel mirror that you can stash in your purse. (Maybe you already have one in a makeup compact.)

Floss, in case you get food stuck in your teeth.

I second Rae's suggestion for nail clippers to take care of hangnails. I'm always getting them in the winter, and it drives me crazy.

Maybe some lozenges or candies to suck on if your throat gets dry?

Other essentials I always travel with

Lint roller

I pack a white noise machine (Dohm) and ear plugs for good sleep

Meds I keep: Ibuprofen, Pepcid Complete, Imodium!, Bonine (works for any kind of nausea for me...not just motion sickness)

Protein bar or two in case I get shaky between meals

clear case to keep it all visible- I prefer the hang on hook toiletry hanger thingies

small conditioner bottles if you need it- hotel conditioner never seems to add up for me

hair brush!

tide pen or shout wipes- must have!!

safety pins for wardrobe emergencies

small bottle of hair serum- makes hair shiny in a second.

I live in Utah and have stayed in most of the resorts in PC. They typically have humidifiers which is the most important thing in my opinion. Maybe sunscreen to protect from wind/sunburn? My nose is one thing I forget about and I often get a lovely red or chapped one. Also, if you are on your phone as often as I am, a backup battery pack is great. And Anna's Evian mist recommendation is perfect.

A travel tin of Vick's vapor rub is a lifesaver on the plane if you are as a sensitive to someone's garlic/scotch lunch as I am.

You already got a flu shot, right? H1N1 seems to be big this year, and healthy young'uns are dying right and left in the Lower 48 or at least in the Bay Area.

Manicure tools? Nail file. Buffer. Base Polish. Nail polish (nude is best so you don't have to worry about chips - just put a coat on every night and that will cover you for the week). Nail topcoat - Seche Vita - best ever. You can polish your nails right before you go to bed, put on the Seche Vita and it dries them immediately and leaves a super shiny finish.
