Help me narrow down my boot choices (solved)

Update: Figured it out. I'm going to order 2-5 and then return three. I can handle having the extra charge on the cc for a month or so.

Ok, thanks to Rae's posts on boots and the soon to arrive Amazon sales tax, I have filled my cart with over $1k worth of boots. Even if I plan to return all but one pair, I can't order *all* of them.

Please help me narrow down the field.

1) I like bright colors. **REJECTED**
2) Is it hard to get pull on boots over skinnies? Grey would be a new boot color for me.
3) I do have a tall flat black boot hole. Can I wear laceups over skinnies or should I hold out for riding boots?
4) These are the black ankle boots I fell in love with last year but rejected due to price. I've told myself I can replace my other black ankle boots when they get down to <$1 CPW.
5) I do have a lot of black shoes already. Maybe what my wardrobe really needs is an injection of color. (I tried to find plum boots in my size but failed)

It goes without saying that I don't really need any boots, as I currently own ankle boots in black and red, tall flat boots in green and cognac, a midcalf heeled black boot and a heeled tall brown boot. However, I appear to be addicted!

I cannot help with your addiction. Look elsewhere for a "sponsor", I think.
I have #3, love them, and yes to over skinnies - especially because they are adjustable width.
I also love color.
I also love #4 for the buckled detail, but you have a midcalf black boot.
If I had to remove boots from your cart, I would remove 2 and then 4 (closest to what you have). If you made me choose between 1 and 5, #5 would win.

Yay, I hope you can save some tax $$, Sylvie! OK, I'll try to address all the questions quickly:

1) I like bright colors - If you wear a lot of bright clothing, gray boots could be really nice. IMO they help make the brights a bit softer/more elegant.

2) Is it hard to get pull on boots over skinnies? I haven't had trouble - I usually just tuck my skinnies into my socks, and they hold the jeans in place.

3) Can I wear laceups over skinnies - I sure plan to do so! One of the reasons I love laces - adjustable shafts.

4) I've told myself I can replace my other black ankle boots when they get down to <$1 CPW - how badly do your others need replacing, and how much do you love these? Can that shaft fit over skinnies, or would they only be for dresses/skirts?

5) I do have a lot of black shoes already - In that case I vote for UNblack.

Personally, I think I vote for #2. They are a color you don't have and could be the flat black riding boot hole alternative, since the soles are nice and dark and they are still neutral. I do like the colored ones also, but I just usually prefer colored shoes with more neutral outfits.

@fern: Haha, it's ok, I can be my own sponsor. I haven't bought a pair of boots since last December (let's ignore the shoes bought this year, ok?) Thank you for the review of #3 - I really wish I'd been able to find them in grey instead of black. Then it would be a no brainer.

@rae: Thank you for the sock tip - I don't know why I always forget to do that. I think I should knock out #1 for sure as I know I won't get much use out of them. #4 would fit over skinnies for me as I have very slender ankles. I'm at $2 CPW with my other black boots - I'll need to replace them in another year.

@AG: LOL. I should get a purple streak in my hair and then the blue/purple ones will *definitely* be necessary!

Sylvie: I second Rae on the gray boots. I have a pair of "all weather" metallic gray boots. They're a little gearish, but I find they soften my black items and are wonderful with the dark purples, teals and reds I like in the winter. That said, those blue booties are calling my name!

Thanks Beth Ann. Those grey boots sure are getting a lot of love. I was a little unsure about them because they looked a little large around the ankle.

I've definitely ruled out the blue suede pair. I definitely *want* to try out #2 and #4 at least. Now I just need to decide whether to try out the blue booties or the tall laceups.

Thanks Suz. You know I looked at the terms/conditions and timing and I'm just going to order #2-#5, try them all on and then return three. I love each one in its own way and I don't want to regret "the one that got away"
