I've been feeling a little frustrated with my wardrobe recently, and then when looking at all the sale stuff at Violeta I fell deeply in love with all of it. After the first flush of delight faded, I realized that I actually have a lot of similar items in my closet already, but something is keeping me from feeling like I'm getting a similar feel in my outfits. Aside from, you know, a professional photo session and makeup artists and hair stylists, which I can't do much about, what are the elements that you see that I could incorporate?
Here's what I've come up with so far:
- fluid or semi-fitted fits, rarely bodycon, especially not on the top half of the body
- rarely prints, and those are strong, not twee
- solids, mostly neutrals
- clean lines
- classic pieces, but done in an almost blank, normcore sort of way
- not too much layering (paradoxically?)
I think one of my issues is that when I go with all classic pieces, it ends up looking very preppy, whereas this doesn't seem preppy to me, or at least not American preppy, more European subtle classy.
