Help me decide on a coat color!

I found some Tulle coats on sale at Nordstrom in the junior's section for $58. I really like the fitted waist and ladylike silhouette of these coats. I couldn't decide which color to pick so I need your input--let me know which color looks best on me. I would probably keep only one or two so vote for your favorite and 2nd favorite. Also if any of them don't look good, let me know too! FIrst pic is without flash, closeup is with flash. All of these are size S (except 5/6 which is a medium that they sent by mistake). Actually I think I may need to size up to a medium in these, because it's not as tight when moving my arms around as the small. Also adding pics of some additional colors just in case you think those are better colors for me (they also come in fuschia and cobalt, but I don't think those are my go-to colors). And a pic of my old Ann Taylor Herringbone coat, which is still wearable but a little bit too big.

I prefer the yellow one in color and cut -- the other seems to have too many pockets that overwhelm you a little. And the yellow color really looks nice on you!

GP, please take this with a huge grain of salt - I'm not sure if the waistband of these coats is positioned in a way which shows off your figure properly. My eye is confused about where the bustline is supposed to be too (actually, the model doesn't seem to have a bust, so that might have something to do with it).

As far as colours, you look good in all. The first one, in its rose-brownness, catches my eye particularly.

Based on your skin tone, I think the eggplant one would look great on you.

I like the style of the second coat, in eggplant or yellow. I think the first coat has too many pockets on the front - kind of distracting to the eye.

I'm with Fruitful, I don't think these fit you properly. It looks like your bust is resting on the waistline, and are caught between the pockets and the waist. I think these aren't cut for someone with your curves.

I agree with many of the comments in this thread. The waistband is definitely complicating the fit of the coat. Its positioning is creating the illusion that your bust is lower than it actually is, especially in the style with the bust pockets. You have many beautiful coats, and I just don't think this one does you any justice unlike your red Anthro trench and black ruffle Kate Spade.

they do seem to be adding too much bulk to your small frame, but as far as colors #1 yellow, #2 eggplant

I think you guys are right about too many pockets. And the bust line, hmm you may be right about that too. I thought it was such a good deal, but maybe it isn't. I still have a J Crew rust colored wool coat coming so I'll keep the yellow and compare before I decide to return or not.

I prefer the yellow. I do see what the other ladies are saying about the waist and bust line too. I'm actually wondering if a larger size might fix this problem because it seems like the shoulders and waist are a little tight and the bust is looser... the olive coat in 5/6 (which is larger, right?) seems to be more balanced through the top in terms of fit.

I love the Tulle brand and have a lot of their clothes. I think they are often quite good quality for the price although there are some duds. Their sizing is ridiculously small, though - on the size chart on their website, they list an XL as a 10. I usually buy L or XL whereas most of the time I am a M/8. In the right size, they fit me pretty well, but I do have a very high waist so maybe that's why the waistband looks funny on you?

Yes, the olive is a size M. I went with a S because that's what my orange peacoat and raspberry blazer were, but I guess the fit is different on these particular coats.

How about a coat like your very nice AT but with a belt? That would be lovely, show off your curves but without so much stuff on it. I don't think that Tulle coat is doing your "girls" any favors.

I agree about the waist/bustline confusion on these coats. The old size 6 coat looks much better and doesn't cut you up in odd places. It's probably the juniors sizing on them. :T fingers crossed for the J. Crew one!

I know the Tulle coat well and am not impressed with the quality. I'm going to be an absolute mare and suggest returning them all on that basis alone, Natalie. Sorry about that

The junior's section of any store is not meant for anyone over the age of 18. Just STEP AWAY! Juniors change their minds every few weeks and they GROW. The clothes there are not meant for adult who might want to keep them for a few years...

I have tried these coats and really wanted them to work, but totally agree with Angie that the quality is off, and the fit is very specific to a certain (tiny waist) body type. Glad you decided to return them. I know they are tempting!

As for colour, I like the yellow. I also think eggplant will look good on you. Meanwhile, I like the style of your older, AT coat as well. I have a funny feeling that the J Crew coat will be *it* in the sense that it'll be the right shape, and a great colour on you.

In the meantime, I'm having visions of a yellow spring trench in your future.
