One of my style goals is to continue pushing into the edgier, more rock'n'roll side of my style (while still keeping things age- and lifestyle-appropriate). I've been eyeing AudraJean's harnesses for nearly a year, and I'm going to order one. I think it would be fun over woven tops, dresses, etc., without being too over-the-top or steampunky.

I'm trying to decide whether black or caramel would be a better choice. I usually default to black, but I'm thinking that caramel might be a little less predictable and a little more sophisticated.

I think they're both really cool, but I prefer the caramel and think it would work great with your colouring, Janet. Do you have some outfits you're imagining with it?

I am also a black defaulter when it comes to belts, jewelry, etc but I say go for the caramel. It's less S & M lol. Seriously, though, the warm tone balances the edginess of the item to me.

The Carmel seems like it would go ith everything kind of like a pair of cognac boots.

I like the carmel, but keep in mind if you wear a lot of dark colors it will stand out much more than the black will.

Angie, no need to apologize! I'd love to hear a little more from you on the anti-harness front. I value your frank opinion. Is it unwise with my slightly busty shortish torso? Or do you think it might read too young or steampunk?

Here's my thinking: For instance, I have a few tailored, fitted woven shirts that I enjoy wearing but I like the idea of edging them up a bit more than just the usual jeans and belt or vest or jacket scenarios. I guess I'm thinking of the harness as a belt alternative that's a little more interesting than a belt. I'm wanting to try *something* new, accessory-wise. Maybe this isn't the right thing. If you have another suggestion for me, I'd love to hear it! I'm in a very experimental mode right now, so I'm willing to take some risks.

I love your hair idea for me, and I would love to try it! I'm worried my hair just doesn't do that straight bob very well. I would be a slave to the straightening iron. I like the straks idea too. will be going darker and less red next time I get my hair done, and I'd like an edgier, shorter, more interesting cut than what I currently have. But it's not easy to make waves look edgy!

Love Audi's harnesses... I just saw one worn in a magazine today, a cognac harness worn over a kind of safari chic look, almost like a substitute for a belt and suspenders (so toning down the rocker/S&M vibe). It looked amazing and I should have stolen the magazine from the hair salon! I vote caramel!

Of course, without seeing Janet actually wearing the harness I shoułd hold off my opinion. But I do remember another fashion blogger wearing one, and it looked very silly and awkward on her. Please make sure you can return before you buy (duh!).

ETA and now with Angie, I'm thinking of a mare wearing a harness. Sorry!

My concern would be that they can read as too "S&M." o_0 In that regard, the caramel color is better, but I still get that vibe from them. They're pictured with really feminine/Victorian things - I think your edgy/rock vibe would be too much with something like this.

Finally was able to access the etsy pic. Oh, as a member of the busty club I am truly wondering how the one-strap harness would work in your favor. But again, if you can return, it obviously won't hurt to try.

On the harness, Rae took the words out of my mouth. To my eye, this reads "S&M" unless you are wearing frilly white Baroque clothing. And that's not your look, Janet. Also, the age thing is gnawing at my mind. Just not sure about that part either, Janet.

Gotcha, Angie! Thank you, this is good feedback to consider. I'll give it more thought. I thought wearing it with more classic pieces would keep it from looking S&M or too young.

Lately I've been worried about looking boring. Hmm, maybe a midlife style crisis? I think you may be on the right track though, that a hair change will make a difference in how my style gels. All the edgy hairstyles that appeal to me work best on thick straight hair, and probably also look best on people who have beautiful cheekbones and jawline, which are decidedly not the best parts of my face. Fortunately, I think my hairstylist will have some good ideas the next time I visit him.
