I like the new red coat the best. The old one looks too big for you. Whether you need to replace the coat at all is always a hard dilemma. However, the Boden coat is timeless in styling.
I agree with folks who think both are great but I think you have to follow your heart.
If the current one doesn’t feel fab and as a result you are not making it earn its keep- get the one you love and will work.
I'm also voting for the Boden. I love the color on you (and I think it's so important this is your "happy red") -- but the fit also seems just so much better. I really dislike when I consign or donate something that was costly and I ended up not wearing it, but sometimes that happens .... and we just have to move on. It may help take the sting out to donate to a group that specifically gives winter coats to those in need.
I will sleep on my decision, but knowing how much more joy brings me my yellow coat then my old black and camel, I think this one will also get a lot of use over the years because it is such a lovely happy color for me and classic shape that will stand test of time.
I run very cold, Anchie. And our climates are the same. I think you might need to rethink what you wear UNDER a wool coat to keep warm. I'm very layered up, and can wear wool coats A LOT.
Angie, I am also layering, my winter uniform is thin merino sweater, wool blazer and a scarf. Reason why I prefer puffer coats is a hood. On my daily comute I have to pass through a very windy park and I like to put my hood on to protect from the wind. But I am thinking, maybe my winter hats capsule needs improvement.
Thank you Angie for chiming back in. I have decided to keep the Boden coat and donate old one. And will get some coordinating hat and scarf, but honestly don’t have idea at the moment what color hat will go best with the color of the coat and me But there is plenty of time until next winter.
Fascinating, because the two coats are so similar, and yet the effect is dramatically different. The second coat is striking and chic, absolutely no contest. You look hipper and younger (not that we're always going for that, but I'm calling it as I see it) in the new coat.
