Help me choose a new coat - YouLookFab Forum

I have had these two coats on my Nordstrom wishlist for a while:
Kristen Blake brocade coat - this was on NAS and is back on clearance. I like it because it's got a bit of a victorian/romantic feel to it because of the fabric. I typically like to keep things a bit more modern but I think this could play well with my closet, especially for dressy occasions in the fall/winter.

Tahari faux fur coat - I like the color and texture (two items from Angie's must-have list!) but it's about twice as expensive as the other coat and I hate to pay retail. So I'd prefer to wait till it went on sale! The purpley color will play well with my closet as well, and I love the texture - but bohemian is NOT part of my style persona...does this read bohemian to you, or more glam?

Another option is the buy the black coat now and just wait to see if the burgundy one goes on clearance...

I really like both, and can see you in them Im no help,, am I? I am leaning towards the first as I think the color of the 2nd may get more ... not boring, but kind of 'old-hat' after a season or two....I think it leans more glam than boho, imo

I like both. A lot. But I am remembering some of your style posts over the last year. You were purging a lot of clothes that did not fit your current style direction. The clothes that you were enjoying wearing were modern clean architectural lines, which was a change from the demure ladylike style you had previously. These do not seem like clean modern looks, more like the retro ladylike style. Has your style evolved?

OK, I ordered the brocade.

With my employee discount the other would be doable as well, but I need to wait till next month and my budget opens up. Hopefully it's in stock by the time I can afford it!

I agree with biscuitsmom that the second one is probably less classic, so makes sense to get the brocade coat now (it's in sale after all).

I'll model it once I get it...looks like it might be shipping from not-too-far-away, so hopefully I'll get it soon!

The brocade was on my NAS top picks list! It's a stunning coat.

I see #2 as 100% RETRO, and will not date.

I could really see both of these work brilliantly for you, Jenava, and agree that two coats isn't a luxury in colder climates. So good plan ordering the brocade one now, and keeping an eye out for a discount on that fab purple faux fur coat. Do keep us posted?

I MUST stop falling in love with things that other people post! I LOVE that second coat. I really like the first one too; I would just prefer to add a color to my coats since I always choose black.

Oooh glad you went for the brocade coat for now, that looks has Jenava written all over it (you just can't see it). The second one looks about evenly mixed boho/glam to me. I think you'd be able to wear it in more of a glam way if paired with your more romantic items.
