Help - Jeans ruined my new handbag!

I just got this cute canvas and leather style handbag from ASOS for spring, and wore it for the first time yesterday. This morning, I'm looking at the back of it, and to my horror I realize the dye from my jeans has rubbed off on it! I have had these jeans for months so I'm not sure why this would happen, but I'm very sad.

Is there anything I can do to clean the canvas?

I just had the exact same thing happen to a light gray soft leather (almost nubuck-like) bag! Also a pair of jeans I'd washed a couple of times. I was so disappointed! It was a bag I got on a good discount, but still it wasn't cheap.

It's at the cleaners now -- they're seeing what they can do with it. I asked him about dyeing it, and he was skeptical.

So, no advice for you, but commiseration. I'll be anxious to see responses as well.

I have no solution, I am sorry. All I can do is recommend that one spray light bags with scotchguard. They just get dirty so quickly. I wonder how Angie keeps her light shoes and bags so clean.

I think the cleaners might be the answer.You could try rubbing with a pencil eraser. Be very gentle on just a small spot to see if that will lift it?

Thanks so much everyone. Should have known better than to get a pale canvas bag, seeing how I'm such a stain magnet. Isabel, I would love to know how Angie, or anyone, can wear cream and white shoes and bags and keep them spotless.

Janet, I hope you find the solution to cleaning yours too. It's such a downer to have your brand new bag look scruffy after the first wear.

Queen Mum & Aunty, I will try those cleaners, and other suggestions I've seen, like Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, baby wipes, anything that might possibly help.

Keep the suggestions coming.

I hope you can get that bag clean again! I wouldn't try baby wipes as they usually have an oil in it and I think that would turn your bag into a dirt-magnet later on.
