Help! I am going to Sundance again!

I have been waiting to spill this for a while - the announcement came out today that my sister's film is premiering at Sundance! She co-directed this one and it is about Robert DeNiro's father, so it is going to get some attention.

What on earth do I wear to a premiere at an informal film festival?!?

This time, you need to shine, sister! You wear your blue hair for a start. And you get to buy a new outfit. I said so. So there.

As to what...hmmm. Well, Sundance is pretty casual, right? And you have been well attired in UWP boots etc. on previous visits, right? I think you have to bring the new Uggs, although whether they will come out on the night in question is another matter.

I had no idea what people wore, so I googled "Sundance Premiere", and it looks like anything goes! Anything from jeans to nice dresses.

Eek, Sundance. Uh, I mostly remember being really underdressed for it! My friend I went with said that people wore anything they wanted, but everyone I saw looked very fashionable! It was very casual, but not really t-shirts and jeans/no thought put into your looks casual, which is what I did. It is quite cold there though, so I suggest bundling up - your Uggs will not look out of place! I didn't go to a premiere though, so grain of salt! (I think I remember seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt in jeans though.)

I will be living vicariously through you, once again. Given the indie nature or at least, origins, of Sundance, how about getting and wearing something from a less well-known, indie designer? Raquel Allegra is one who comes to mind, her designs are not trend-driven rather they are unique.

Oooh, some good suggestions. I went last year and did not feel underdressed as I was mostly in a down coat, skinnies and boots. It was very upscale ski resort casual. But this time there will be EVENTS! Involving celebrities! Zoinks! I remember it being cold and very DRY and exhausting at that elevation which was much higher than I realized. But otherwise very much like Alaska, only much more fashionable and boho.

Jacky, were you there for fun or for a film? I bet we were at something together at some point!

So exciting! I'm no help at all at finding suitable items, but I'll be glad to chime in if you post some possibilities. I'd also say to make sure your gloves are fab -- a lot of people overlook this detail. And your shades. But we all know you have great shades!

I think this is your cue to go archetypal UWP. Then take one weapon off. Leather legs for sure. Silk-cashmere shirt? Maybe a Trinity-meet-tux coat? Do you have a silky or sparkly waistcoat? A nod to boyishness in brocade or velvet? And a killer cuff or necklace? Or a top hat instead?

awesome! leather pants & textury coat would have your casual/cool factor in. Or leather jacket & some skinnys...a sleek leather sheath dress, dressed down with some boots would be fun for party time! & maybe an indie necklace?
I also think an indie designer would be awesome, anyone in your hometown or state? so many options!!

Oh, Mandipa, you have given me a FANTASTIC idea! I have a vintage Ralph Lauren silk velvet double breasted blazer that rarely sees the light. With leather leggings and booties it could be just the right thing. I just need to figure out what to wear under it.
