Help! How would you style this crochet shrug?

Hi guys,
I desperately need some suggestions and advice on this piece of clothing.
I was cleaning my cupboard today and found this crochet shrug that I'd bought last year. It's a shame I never wore it and forgot that I'd even bought it
I tried it on,but I have no idea what to pair this with or how to dress it.
I'd love to know if you would ever pick this item if you saw it and how you would style it... I need some inspiration.

Hm. I think, because it's so lacy, that I'd want to style it with something less feminine — more simple, basic — and probably not with pastels. Maybe even something "tough" or hard-edged. It looks like it's a cropped length, not what I think of as a shrug, and I think I remember reading here that cropped lengths are good with higher waisted things (skirts in particular).

Wear it with one of your stripey tees that you recently picked and black jeans.

Wear it with a sleeveless tank or one of those halter camis (I remember a grey) and distressed jeans. And the lug sole sandals you so love!

Wear it with the black fit and flare Dorothy Perkins dress. Wear it on ANY dress actually....would look totally cute and girlie

Oh, and yes - the new red tee. Wear on that. With jeans.

I am hoping you'll try all these suggestions and post pictures because otherwise I can't imagine proportions at all

I think it would be lovely paired with nearly any sleeveless summer dress.

And what about wearing it as a swim coverup, along with a sarong?

As a topper with a tube skirt and camisole?

I also like tough / delicate outfits like wearing this feminine shrug as a topper with an outfit that features army cargo pants.

I used to have a white cotton crocheted vest, and wore till it fell apart. Pieces like your shrug are great for bumping up the style of ordinary clothes.

I am seeing many of these crocheted cardigans this summer on young women. They wear them mostly with distressed jeans or cut offs over a tank or cami.

My inclination would be to wear it with a simple tank and faded denim (high waisted flares?) -- hinting at the boho vibe without going costumey or too literal (no flower crown ;-). I think this needs really intentional styling to look right, depending on your style.

This is the perfect piece to wear over a sleeveless dress or top when the occasion requires covered shoulders (think wedding, business event involving a more formal culture, visit to the Vatican, etc).
