I would love to have a skirt similar to these. I am in love with #1, and 2 is similar, and fantastic too. Anyone know where I could find something similar?

Have you tried the google link Mochi put on the forum a bit ago?i can't on the iPad, but I think that would help you find it!

Nope, but I found them!!!! Ack! The first is a Proenza Schouler and second is Dion Lee. I don't know if either are available now, or the price, but I have my fingers crossed!

Ahh.....the first one used to be at Saks.....$1500!!!! Ack, it went on sale for $600, but it's sold out, not that $600 was reasonable anyway.

Thanks Thistle. Those are sold out too, and not really in my price range. I guess I didn't realize how expensive these were....sigh....maybe I'll spot a dupe somewhere.

My latest plan is to learn how to draft my own patterns and sew since the stuff i like seems totally out of my price range. Not sure if you have any background or exp. there. I figure it wont take more time than not finding anything shopping....

I would look for a DIY tutorial on these skirts. Honestly, I bet you could make one if you can sew.

Yes way back when I was 9 I could sew a few things. But those days are long over. I can fix up holes and stuff but haven't made anything from a pattern in about 20 years!

I vote for making one. I was in love with a McQ - Alexander McQueen skirt last year, except it wasn't in my skirt budget or at least at the time I wasn't willing to spend about $500 for a wool houndstooth circle skirt (and it was too short for my prude tastes). Anyhow, even when it went on sale, they never have my size. I decided to sew a similar one. I'm sure you can modify an existing skirt :).

Here is something reminiscent:
unique Hip Wrap which is an overskirt of leather, wool, ans felt that hugs your hips like a wide belt. The edges are left unfinished and it’s closed with snap fasteners. It looks great worn over slim trousers!

Vildy, I love burda sewing. I've only made a skirt from there and it's super easy. I think for trendy pieces we shouldn't spend all our paychecks on. More on my idea about sewing one is taking an existing mini skirt and adding the folded panel on top and then trimming that mini skirt so that it has the wrap look.

This one from Danier has a similar look but is longer. It does incorporate leather accents though which is very on trend.

I actually have the Burda issue with the pattern Vildy linked to. They rate it 2.5 out of three, so it isn't that easy to sew if you don't have practice. I do think it's great though, because you can put it on over everything.
