Hello dear Fabbers,
I hope your spring shopping is going well and that you are finding inspiring clothing that you love!

My questions for today are:
- I have not been able to find a cross body blush bag in a blush that I like. I really like the Boden blush bag (It is the Angie’s red bag, but blush) but it’s out of my budget and I really wanted a cross body. So I am wondering whether this stone one from Ecco would be ok.

I would like to pair it with Angie’s white sandals (see find). Is this a close enough match to create a super-polished look?

Are there some better white bags?

Also, I’ll throw in this bonus question: have you seen any knee length denim pencil skirts? Any denim (patterned, unpatrerned) is fine.

I really like both those items. The bag is lovely. FWIW, I personally don’t think the colour match is close enough to create a super polished look matchy look though. But I’m no expert!

That is a great bag but it is not matchy matchy with the white sandals IMHO. Now keep in mind I don't do matchy matchy and just use any bag. You might note there are rarely bags in my WIW. So I am not an expert on bags.
Have you looked on Shopbop for a denim pencil skirt? They ship to Canada and do free shipping and free returns. Apparently, they also refund the customs fees. (I just read that somewhere.) Here are some I found but they have more.

There are two bags on the JCrew website that might work - have you checked there? One is the Signet bag, which has been well reviewed, and I know Viva has it. It's not shown in a blush colour, but is available in a few other options . There was another one , circular, in blush suede that looks pretty.

You know, it's super hard to find white handbags. Lots of bone/cream/off-white. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Botkier Cobble Hill.

(Sorry for link instead of Find.) Keeps catching my eye because of the black and silver trim. But the sandals you're considering have gold trim, so maybe that's not matchy enough? There always seem to be more options with gold hardware. Maybe Rebecca Minkoff?

The Ecco bag is beautiful and polished on its own, but definitely not matchy. I think this is a matter of deciding if you're a matchy bag person at heart (like Style Fan, I'm not -- it's a concept I find hard to wrap my mind around).

That is a nice bag -- I like it. The MInkoff below is not white but some kind of stone. I think it is okay to use off white with white but I have to admit it does not always work. In that case I might be tempted to wear a bright bag instead. Or a metallic. OR a patterned bag where the differences in tone are less obvious.

I like small and structured bags in theory but tend to go for massive functional bags in real life, so I am not much help but if you want to experiment, Zara and Massimo Dutti might be good bets.

Those are great refresher pieces. Kate Spade had a white cross body with gold hardware last year. Maybe you can find a tan one more easily to match the soles of the sandals.

Smittie, be careful of jean pencil skirts that can open on front. They may pull open too much when you sit down. Look for skirts at Eddie Bauer, LLBean and Lands End. Thrift stores often have an interesting assortment, but often they are very short or long.

Joy is on the money for locations for classic denim skirts . By us Marshall’s and TJ Maxx have tons of blush bags of all shapes sizes and materials. If all else fails- Amazon has purses of all colors and materials

I have the same hardware question. My own hardware has to match - and I choose gold. Are you okay with the mismatched metals?

I took lisa P's suggestion and looked at JCrew. They had this cream one, and is in my price range, but they call it 'fresh cream' which seems like it might be too creamy.

Also, the Boden bag just went on sale and am wondering if you can mix the blush bag with white sandals as long as the hardware is the same colour? Honestly, I don't know these details. Polished ladies: what do you think?

Or is blush and white too close to combine into one outfit?

The pop and suki white bag that kkards suggested would be perfect but it is too pricey.

Smittie, of course, you can combine blush and white in one outfit! I do that all the time. Naturalizer blush sandals could be a great match with the Boden blush bag. J.Crew crossbody is too cream for the shoes.

I’ve been thinking about your post. Your question about matching hardware made me think about my love of matchy matchiness. I have vintage Coach bags dating back to the 80s. Back then, they only used brass hardware. Of course, back then I also had brown hair, and wore gold jewelry. Recently I’ve tried to tie in the bag hardware with other metal in my outfit by wearing a pair of two tone earrings or two tone pendant. Of course, there’s my navy leather jacket that I took a Sharpie to, to blot out the bright gold zipper. For me, I think it depends how in your face the hardware is, and how close together it is. The bags’ hardware is kind of dull, whereas the jacket zipper was very bright and shiny. And shoes are pretty far away.

I’m not actually sure how matchy-match I am. This will be an experiment in matching.

I think you’re right, Jaileen, that things that are far away don’t have to match as well as when they’re together.

There is also the issue of how bright and shiny the hardware is. I hadn’t thought of that.

That’s a really good idea to dull down bright hardware with a sharpie!

I’ve almost finished my spring shopping now. Still need a plain white jean skirt, and a white belt with gold hardware would be nice.

Have you checked yoox? I have seen lot of nice white bags with gold hardware while looking for white bag with silver hardware. I am on the phone so no finds but serach for coccinelle brand - great quality for the price.

Another option that I think would work beautifully with those white sandals is something in the tan/cognac range. It would go with the sandals, which have that color on the sole, without being matchy. I also like to match my bag to a scarf or to something else in my outfit, a technique that can work well if one has a fair wardrobe of bags to choose from!
