Help christening with the outlaws post break up

Hi so two babies and a relationship breakdown later I find myself arranging my daughters christening for two weeks time it will also be first time I've came face to face with the outlaws since the breakup and custody battle so want to look good and feel confident as loads of them and only one me I'm a talk rectangle short necked small bust short waist and a casual dresser but wondering if either of these dresses may work if not I have a good old realible lbd but need ideas how to style it. Live in Ireland weather is cold and wet. Thanks again for any help

These are gorgeous ... Love them both but I feel like the first one looks more like a christening dress, the second is perhaps more wedding ornevening-ish ... You could add a dressy cardigan or blazer to the first to add some warmth against the weather? All the best for the occasion

These are lovely dresses. I agree the first one is better for the occasion, though I do worry it won't be warm enough. Do you have a coat or topper?

Thanks ladies unfortunely first one sold out in my size so the search goes on was looking at this thinking pattern might help hide baby flaps ha ha not sure of neck line no topper starting from stretch reinventing myself I think

I would go with the dress that works best with the toppers that you have, because you will need a topper. In some ways it will be good to get the first meeting with the outlaws over with. At least at a Christening, it is a celebration of the children (or at least it should be). Confidence is key, so ultimately which dress speaks to you the most and makes you feel fantastic, is the one to go with. Best of luck!

Love the cut and colour of this one but slightly above the knee I'm 40 would it be mutton dressed as lamb

Not at all IMHO, and with a rectangle figure it may look more conservative on than it does in the pic. Would still suggest a topper of some sort, but its a very pretty dress

Thanks I'll definitely be looking for a topper gave a lot of my clothes to charity collection dress is just the starting point of outfit

I don't think that slightly above the knee is inappropriate for 40 year old but it all depends on how you feel in it. I would stay away of anything too body con and go for tailored fit.
I hope your event will be not stressful and you do sail through it as Suz said. Good luck!

Agree with over the knee being ok. If you could try the dresses before committing it would be better, since you should figure out how you feel while sitting too. When is the Christening?
I would wear the dress with thick tights and boots, and a fitted coat, all in appropriate colors depending on the color you pick for the dress.

I liked the first and like the third. Not crazy about the v neckline for a christening. Congrats on the new baby. That's so wonderful!

Ok, the outlaws... ohmigosh. My family family is a bit of a shudder and I like them and they're good and everything. You are such a brave girl!

And if I'm understanding you, shaz, the added element of the outlaws means not wanting to give them anything to talk about behind your back.

We want them to see you as gorgeous and stylish, but also as a competent, completely un-crazy woman who is a fabulous mother. (Tall order for a dress, no?) I would thus err on the side of not-too-sexy, not-too-cocktail. It does not have to be in any way drab, but if you put any of these one and question whether the length, neckline, or clinginess is too va-va-voom, it's not the one.
