Help! About to buy this Banana Rep dress - yay or nay?

I really love the color of this dress.

I love the 'concept' so to speak in that it is a fairly blank palette with a fantastic color that can be belted, worn with something over it and so on. But the reviews give me pause - they don't seem to be that favorable. I did try it on and I think I was just so in love with the color. Of course I didn't get pictures because I didn't think of it and I had 2 kids with me. It is on hold and I've got a 40 % off coupon to use only today so I need to decide. I'm an hourglass but have trimmed down recently so I feel pretty good.

I just wonder if this is a $66 plus tax (I have that coupon) or if I should keep looking.
Do I need it? No. But it would be my dressy summer dress, for date nights, any weddings and showers and for church (with a cardigan) and so on.

So if you care to, please weigh in and many advance thank you's!
I realize I'm asking for a lot without pictures, I guess I'm mostly wanting to know if you all think this dress is a good value and will be at least a little versatile?

I think its a lovely dress for spring/summer, but with this cut, I think its all about the body type. It just looks great on some figures and not so good on others. Without pictures, I'm totally drawing a blank on how it might look on you (sorry =/) but I would say get it, try it on at home and see how you feel (and take pics so we can see how fabulous the color looks on you!)....and if it turns out that you don't like it so much, return it. What've you got to lose, right? =)

Oooh, LOVE. The neckline is especially pretty. The color and shape sort of reminds me of Angie's Melrose Street tunic/dress.

It sounds like most of the reviews are from pretty pear shaped women who found the fit in the hips awkward. If you tried the dress on and didn't notice it was tight around the hips, then I doubt it was the case for you.

It's a GORGEOUS dress! I agree with srujana that it's hard to tell with a dress of theat cut for sure whether it will work without a picture. Have you worn dresses in this cut before?

I love the ease, the color, the potential blank slate. I think it would work for an hourglass, but hard to tell for sure (as evidenced in the thread about wearing volume). I hope you get it and show us pics

I love it (been eyeing the same dress in the stripe) and that color is gorgeous. If you didn't notice fit issues at the hips when you tried it on, then chances are it'll be fine.

Get it and show us some pictures!

Unless you'd be wasting a coupon (i.e. there's something else you're sure about that you'd buy instead) I'd get it and return it if it ends up not working. From the looks of it, I'd say it's meant to be voluminous and the reviewers who didn't like it were expecting it to be fitted.

With dresses, you really need to fit them on your body and prance around a bit before you make that final judgment call.

I didn't get it in time - we ended up being gone all evening and I'm just now getting back from an evening with friends. BUT there is a 40 % off Saturday so I've got it on hold until then and I think I will get it then. I really do adore the color and the fit seemed to work on me. I will get it and post pictures. I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting it tonight but I think it will still be there on Saturday (at least they said they would hold it that long)
