Help? A little more Nikki size angst (for Vicki)

Sorry for yet another of these Nikki size posts, but I'm second-guessing myself over the size of the AG Nikki's and would love some opinions.

#1-3: 26, a size down from my usual jeans. These are snug, but not uncomfortably so.

#4-6: 27, my usual size. These definitely feel looser and more slouchy. But I'm worried that the 27's look "dumpy" because of the baggy rear. Do they look stylishly baggy? Or frumpily saggy?

I will admit that looking at myself from the rear is not one of my favorite activities, as all I see is no butt, a massive back, and lots of love handles. Sigh.

Note that I've tucked the jeans under until I make a decision and then I will hem them properly. And the tags are off the 27's, so if I decide to go with the 26's, I'll be selling the 27's.

(Vicki, I would imagine that this will be what the 25's vs. the 26's will be like for you, except that you'll probably fill out the rear in a more flattering way).

I don't see much difference in the sizes on you. Both really look wonderful. Maybe you need one of each

Marmee, these are supposed to be looser skinnies...rather than full on BFs...

I think you could go either way, sarah. I think the 26's will likely loosen up with wear. The 27's look baggier but not terribly deliberately baggy--a la the Gap SBF's. At least that's how I see it. (Not sure that makes sense but I'm used to the super baggy SBF's I think--these are different.) I think you should keep the 26's. They look great.

FWIW, I see none of what you see from the rear. You look terrific!

Perspective is everything, isn't it? I see a perfectly shapely butt, no love handles, and a perfectly fine back.

I do understand the concern about baggier bottoms on jeans. When I try on jeans with this feature, I worry, "But what if it doesn't look like this was on purpose...?"

Which pair feels the best (comfort feel, not "this is my true style identity" feel)? That might be the best way to decide.

I like the 27s on you, but if you decide to sell the 27s, PM me. I have the 28s. Got them yesterday. Day 2 wearing today. Pretty stretched out. 27s may work for me as non-saran wrap skinnies.

I like the 27s on you, Sarah. And I see none of the issues you are talking about!! You look terrific. Also, I'd go with the ones that feel best to you -- that is something that is much harder to judge from a photo.

I STILL haven't pushed the order button for mine, by the way. Mainly because I think I am going to have to order two sizes for comparison and just don't want to do it. Crazy, I know.

Kelly and Carter, maybe I'll wear the 26's around tomorrow a bit more and see how much they loosen up. And Carter, thanks for letting me know. I will definitely keep you posted.

Suz, yes, it's a tough one. I'd think you'd want the 26's, but I also think you can pull of the slouchy fit a bit better than me. But you also have those perfect BR jeans that fill the slouchy skinny niche, don't you?

Hah, yes, DD can be a total ham, whereas DS was running away from the self-timer.

The BR jeans do fit this slot, Sarah, and the fit looks super similar to the Nikkis. But the BR jeans are distressed, and I don't always want to wear distressed. Plus, they are five years old and starting to show their wear. They're the one item of clothing that I actually ration a bit -- with the distressing I am afraid they might give out sooner than I would like. So.... I think Nikkis would be well-used in my mostly-jeans lifestyle. So they'd be worth it to me. And I do plan to get a pair. Just...which pair. Hmmmm.

They both look good. I have a slight preference for the larger ones, as long as they don't stretch out more....probably because I am getting used to the intentional, slouchy skinny look.

Sarah - I have always been a fan of slouchy skinnies. I love how the 27's look on you. Skimming, cool, effortless. I think the 26's look good also, but in a different way, they are more traditional skinny silhouette - fitted but not skin tight. You look awasome in both but my favorite is the 27. What feels best on you? What do you like and really what look do you prefer? Those are really the only questions that matter!!

Angie, I knew you would ; ). It all comes to down to body image for me, I think - unfortunately, I love the slouchy look on tall, lythe models, and am not always sure that it works on alternative body types (in other words, mine). But I will try to be more objective in making this final decision...

I WAY prefer the bigger size... I think these are that rare pair of jeans that are cut well to be baggy and still flattering.

I prefer the baggy ones but then I never wore skinnies. I am sure I was the first non celebrity to wear BFs. I did buy a pair of relaxed skinnies a year ago (Fidelity) and they really stretch out. I find most jeans do stretch out but I can never figure out how much when I buy them.

You look great from behind. In both pairs.

Now I have to find those jeans. They look amazing.

I like either fit - both look good, and it's ultimately up to your personal comfort level. In a perfect world one of each would have a place in your life, but I get the price.
If you're planning to wear in spring and summer the extra room might be more comfortable temperature-wise. The larger size is not very baggy in back and remember you will be moving most of the time so the view will not be a flat photo view (which as the rest have pointed out is quite admirable and missing your self-imposed flaws). The weight of the denim looks good and not saggy but consciously less fitted. They fit like my size up matchsticks which I love but did take a slight getting used to.

I not only prefer the 27's, I think they are more flattering in the rear view. Any baggier or one size up, then we might be talking about sacrificing flattery for fashion, but this isn't it. The 27s are perfection.

Mine have not stretched all that much, even after wearing them to travel, but perhaps if I had started with a tighter smaller size, they would have. Food for thought.

These are actually on their second day post-wash, so they're about as baggy as they'll get. I'll keep them.
