I know a few of you have this gorgeous Helmut Lang villous sweatshirt, and I've been eyeing it up for some time. I ordered the Caslon draped cardigans when in the back of my mind I think I really wanted the HL. So when I didn't love the Caslon (on me) when I tried it on in person, and had already mentally decided I'd send those back, I pulled the trigger on the HL top. I found it through a Canadian sight (ssense) at a better price (for Cdns) plus free shipping and free returns (Yay!).
It arrived this morning when I was in the US picking up (and returning the Caslons) part of my NAS order.
I slipped it on and, HEAVEN!!! Gorgeously soft and such at dream...from the front. I put it through its paces in my closet and slowly came to the sad realization that I didn't love it from behind. I have a super long torso, and a square backside that seemed to be highlighted by the assymetrical (but gorgeous) hemline of the sweater.
So I madly packaged it up and sent it back asap. Once I've decided it's a nay, it's a nay right now. Thought I'd share the photos with you, as I find this to be a helpful exercise.
In a way I am very proud of myself since previously I may have kept it since it looks so good (I think) from the front. I wear quite fluid tops as a general rule, and I think the constant poking out of half of my top on one side would drive me crazy. Or I'd be limited to very lightweight, tucked in tops.
Part of me is thinking maybe I should give the small black Caslon cardi a try - maybe I just didn't like the morel colour on me. I still may, since I have to drive back in a couple of weeks to pick up the Munros which just arrived at my box today (Ugh) an hour after I left...
