In my previous thread about Helmut Lang and mixing styles (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ine-styles) I linked to a dress for sale on eBay that I really liked. I had emailed the seller to get more information regarding fit and size and at first it sounded like it would be too small. This is the dress http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Helmut-.....ng-RARE-/2

However, she has emailed me this morning to tell me she had her mom try on the dress who is the same size as I am (at least theoretically) and that it fit really well. She normally does not offer returns but is willing to make an exception and offer a return for me on the dress if it doesn't fit.

I'm wondering if I should go for it and give it a try, knowing I can return it but at least that way, getting it out of my system? It is an expensive item for me (even on eBay we're talking $300) and normally I would never spend that amount while on a weight loss journey, but it sounds like the fabric is stretchy and forgiving and could fit well at even a smaller size.

What do you think? I'm confused...

Since the seller is willing to offer a return I'd do it! I think the ruching and pseudo wrap effect could be great.

Shannon, I looked at that dress too. What is the lining? My HL skirt is quite stretchy and I think this could work for you. Since she's allowing a return what's to lose?

Well, if you can return it, your worst case scenerio for a HL experiment would be shipping costs, which I can usually recoup by not venturing into Starbucks for a few days.

Shannon since my original reply I have been giving this some more thought . This is something the you have obviously given a great amount of thought too.
This is a wonderful piece for the price (pricey yes but not for the brand)
She is willing to take the item back if it does not work. Sometimes we want something so bad and then it doesn't fit or it just plain doesn't work. You get to find out for a small risk of a return. Still say buy but wanted to explain my reasoning.

Una - I'm not sure what the lining is but the seller said it is stretchy as well.

Suz - the return would be about $30, plus I would be out the cost of the seller's shipping the dress to me, which is $25. Am I willing to be out of pocket for that? Yes.

Inge & Debbie - you two are right. This dress has stolen my heart and I'm never going to know if it could have been right for me without trying it.

I've decided to go for it - even though I have a nagging suspicion it's going to be too small. But I NEED TO KNOW.

Yes bought it. Not sure what net a porters sale return policy is but I really. Feel this will work with my changed body configuration. Fingers crossed.

Netaporter policy is just return shipping cost, return in (?)30 days. Unless says final sale.

I have this dress i think you have the perfect IT shape for it.

thanks bj1111. I think it has the potential to look hawt on me with the proper shapewear.

fyi...paradoxically, it looks better on my au naturel. something about the way the dress is cut and where my natural fat lies compared to where to shapewear pushes it.
