Hello, my name is Rae, and I need to return to SYC.

I've had a bit of fun lately spending CC rewards and picking up a couple of Fall treats, but I can feel the slip of the slippery slope now, and I think it's time to reign it in before I go off the deep end!

I listed off what I got recently, and seeing it all together helps drive home the feeling that I don't need more stuff:

MIA white boots (just this morning) - $30

In good news, I was able to get $20 off on some white boots! Either they will rock with my white jeans, or I'll be able to resell them. In bad news, I'm over $100 over what I meant to spend... oops.

My new mantra: I CAN pass up an great deal. I CAN pass up an great deal...

Hop back on the wagon, there's room! I did the same with my paypal balance on the wrap dress. And then I found bras in my size and got those. I knew I've needed them for months but it wasn't until I declared SYC that I actually got them - go figure. It must be some psychological reaction to "you can't" . . . oh, yes I can!! he he (it beats picking at our skin, though, right?! LOL)

Sounds like you found some great deals. You must save your CC rewards for a long time. I redeem them each month (as a refund, how fun ... not). For a minute I thought Heather was asking when you get your white boots, but I bet she's asking about the wedding, huh???

Heather, I added a pic of the boots. I was SYC for almost 3 months and broke it when I got my red jacket... no regrets on that front. The big day is 8/25, and it's acomin' up fast! Very stressed yet still excited.

Mo, a thousand times yes to it being better than picking at our skin! LOL. You don't know how relieved I was to read that I'm not the only one who does that. I've always spent my Paypal balances while in SYC, too, looking at it as my petty cash, since it's all profit from reselling. It will be a trick to not do that anymore. Perhaps I need to start looking at it as a vacation fund?

Rae, I want to see these white boots with denim cut offs and your Zara butterfly blouse! Rockin' it Rae Style!

Maybe you can adopt Angie's rule of "one in - one out". If you find a deal and you have to clean your closet in order to get it this may not look as a good deal anymore...
I tried this for NAS this year. It was not a 100% success, more like 60% but it is a start!

Sveta, I actually already have a 1-in-1-out policy! I am such a frequent purger, though, that I never really run into a conflict. Hm, maybe if I can avoid being bored, I won't purge as much, and then I won't keep creating a fashion vacume in my closet?

i take a post-it and wrap it around my credit card. then i write down what i charged on the post-it to keep a running tally to remind myself about the budget.
