Hello everyone, just wanted to pop in quickly and say hi from SF! Things are going well here, a little chilly but not too bad!!! The hostel I am staying at has free wifif too - woohoo!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great shopping advice. I haven't gone too crazy yet, so far just scored a pair of vintage slouchy brown boots in Haight-Ashbury today - which I was stoked about since I havent seen many boots in stores here at all since spring is in. They are maybe a touch too short, but considering I brought no boots with me I think theyll come in handy. Im still hoping to run across those Diba ones in NYC!

Its been surreal seeing some of the clothes in stores that I've read you guys talking about!!

Tanya I even tried on your Club Monaco microcheck pants today!!! I'm not sure if I did them justice compared to you though. I fill out the waist fine, but the bum bags on me a bit. Plus I would need to take the hem down a bit as they are a bit too short even for flats on me The material is indeed truly lovely though. Hehe I actually took pictures as I was so undecided - maybe I will even post them tomorrow night to see ylf yay or nays them. Hows that for mobile-ylfing??

So wonderful you are having such a good time! There are fantastic neighborhoods to shop in. Fillmore and Union Street would also be fun, plus all of the chains you can imagine at Union Square (where it sounds like you've been.)

If you get a chance, there are some great consignment stores to visit - one in the Fillmore and can't remember the street of the other but cool stuff!

It's still a bit chilly here and it rains a lot so you may find yourself getting a lot of use out of those boots before you even get back home.

I'll definitely post more later, don't worry! Had a big day today biking the golden gate bridge to tiburon, so no shopping!!! Here's the microcheck pants I tried on yesterday. Tried a side on shot to show the baggy butt although I'm not sure it worked out. What do you think? Worth picking up or just ok on me? Are they just a touch too short with the flats I am wearing?

The boots sound great, keeping my fingers crossed that you'll find lots more lovely items;-)

The micro-check pants: they look a tad baggy in the thigh area (but only in the first picture), the fit seems better in the other pictures. Length: I can't really tell because both your shoes and the floor are dark. Hope somebody else can chime in.

I think the pants fit you great! You would wear them with the shirt pulled down as in the last photo, right? You may need different undies though as I can see some panty lines.... I personally like boy shorts for pants and jeans. They don't seem too short for flats in these photos - what am I missing?

Tam, I like the pants on you. I don't think pants are really meant to be as fitted as jeans. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. They seem to fit well in the bum and then they just fall straight down, which looks right to me. I think they make PPL, but it's hard to tell since the floor is dark and the shoes are dark as well.

Honestly, I am kind of surprised every time I see your pictures. You don't look like an apple at all to me. Look how slim you are from the side!

I agree the fabric is lovely!!! I also tried the Anthropologie ones one - they felt beautiful as well! Unfortunately the largest size they had left was an 8, which just felt too tight on me across the waist/stomach (my problem area) though the thighs/bum were fine. I had the same thing happen with the CM ones too when I went down to an 8. The Anthropologie ones were a better length for me too, but I did find the buttons around the waistline a bit distracting.

I really need to stop buying pants though - I bought 2 pairs of trousers and 2 pairs of jeans yesterday (pics later today). Tops are what I really need though - ooops!! I just don't like tops though, thats why I live in tshirts.

p.s. I know its just a number, but I am LOVING american sizing. In Australia I'm a 12/14 and here some size 8 pants fit (but mainly 10). Plus I'm a medium here, normally large at home. Interesting differences!

Tam, I'm glad you are having fun! What else did you buy so far? I really do like the fit of these pants on you (regardless of whether you keep them). They only look SLIGHTLY big in the thigh in the first picture, but not in the bum, and in the 3rd pic they look like they fit fine.

I tried the Anthropologie pants too - but they only had a 10 (which was just slightly too large and imperfectly fitting) and no size 8, and I couldn't get a good enough sense of how a smaller size would fit. I liked the comfy and more casual fabric, though.

(I'm the reverse of you - I usually buy way too many tops & not enough pants, so I allowed myself to buy two new pairs this week.)

I hope you find a few super tops (sizing is funny indeed). Angie blogged about tops with banded hems yesterday - in case you need more inspiration;-)
