hello from a newbie! plus my custom converse chucks :)

hello everyone! i'll post a proper body-type question with pictures and stuff soon, but just thought i'd introduce myself first. i'm hanna, a 20something in chicago stuck in an office of overly-casual (read: slobby) coworkers and struggling to walk the line between looking put together and overly-dressed up for the office! i've been stalking the forums for a while now, but figured it was time to join the fun :).

anyway, i owned a pair of lowtop black chucks that i loved and wore till they fell apart, but i'm now jonesing for a funkier shoe. I've been after a print for sometime but never took the plunge for fear of not being able to match or pull it off... but thanks to converse's custom shoe thingy, i think i've struck the right balance between solids and print! but i'd like to know what you think:

i hope the picture is clear enough! it's phaeton gray, with yellow stitching and inside lining, floral tongue (that sound weird...), and yes, black laces, which i know from searching the forum that angie doesn't prefer, but still... let me know!

Those Converse are really cool and I like them. They are not too much at all. And you can always try different color laces, including white.

Welcome to the forum! I love Chicago. I've only been there once, for a few hours, this past summer while on a road trip, but I'm dying to go back for a week or so.

I want to gobble those Converse up, they look so good! I love stuff with an offbeat funky touch, personally.

Hi Hanna. Can you tell us more about Converse custom shoes. I haven't heard of that. Do you design your shoes?
Yours look good. I think you did find a nice balance. They have a sort of flirt of color. Less is more sometimes.

hi guys! thanks for all the great feedback - i'm glad the shoes have been ylf-approved thus far :).

san - converse.com has an online tool that allows you to choose from a list of colors and patterns for the outside color, inside color, tongue, laces, racing stripe, the works! you also choose the shoe - hitop, lowtop, etc. there's a link from the main site. they have all the usual converse colors, not too many patterns but the ones they have are pretty funky. hope that helps!

Hi Hanna, welcome to the forum! I can totally relate to you about the overly casual office environment. I am usually the most dressed up one in the office - and my dressed up, I mean wearing something as simple as a pair of black pants. I see a lot of jeans and sneakers and the occasional Hawaiian shirt! Looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
