We’ve nearly reached the midpoint of the month. How is everybody doing on the health front?

I’m still plugging away at cardio, but the past few days have felt more tiring than usual, partly because of insomnia. I love the long days, but tend to wake up at the crack of dawn in the summer, regardless of how I’ve slept.

On the weightlifting front: my only goal during pregnancy was to do what I could and what was comfortable, but to try and continue squatting. Pelvic issues have made it challenging, but I’m pleased to have reached (early) full term being able to do squat triples at 175lb and 185lb, and singles at 190-205lb. Contra conventional wisdom, I tend to squat after long cardio sessions, and work through my sets fairly quickly. This keeps my expectations very low, and fatigue is a good antidote to any ego that might arise with trying to hit a particular number, rather than going with the flow. Ironically, it’s much more uncomfortable for me to squat to the ground without any weight, than it is to squat to parallel with a belly and 200lb. Whatever I pulled is content remaining pulled, but at least it’s stabilized. Otherwise, I have felt really greatful for my health these past few months.
