I have been very bad about participating in this thread--I participated a few times at the beginning of the year, and then kind of stopped. But I'm really excited, so I wanted to share: I have lost 14 pounds since the end of January! Yay! I tend to gain weight around the holidays, and this year was no exception. It took me awhile to really get back into a gym routine, but I have been religious about it for the last two months, and have been incredibly good with my eating for the last 2-3 weeks (I am generally good, but I was very, very good), and now I am back down to my happy weight.
One thing I have found helpful is that I track my weight every single week. I'm not sure how many of you do this, but I have been doing this for about 2.5 years, and now that I have a lot of data, I am able to see patterns. My weight does fluctuate, and it seems every year I gain about six or seven pounds in November/December/January, and then I lose about three of those, but the other three stay on for a very long time, until I make a very big effort to go on a strict diet (and some of those I have never lost, but have rather just decided to live with a new normal). So I guess one thing I should do in the future is watch myself more in the winter months and try to curb my weight gain as it is happening. That should be obvious anyway, but seeing the numbers really helps me understand my habits--so hopefully this winter I'll do a better job of keeping things in check! I'm finding the weight tracking is much more helpful for me on the macro level than it has been on the micro level, so I'm glad I stuck with it.
