SF, I have a discrepancy in leg length too (and scoliosis as well), so I am careful about my running and replacing my shoes often, although honestly these days I'm not running much -- I'm much more into cycling.
Last week I got my Fitbit working again (it wouldn't sync at all since I returned to the States from Cuba), so I feel like I have a better handle on my overall activity level. Still trying to get back into my routine after a month of travel and hanging out on the very rainy and muddy ranch, which was not great for my activity level.
Did a 30 mile bike ride yesterday, which seemed to feel harder than it should have. About midway through I realized I was dealing with headwinds! The second half is a slight downhill grade, so that made it much easier. Still, I'm feeling pretty out of shape and the extra 5-ish lbs I acquired over the winter (I don't own a scale, but I can tell from how my clothes are fitting) are really bugging me. My eating habits are neither awful nor that of a model eater. I could stand to make a better effort at avoiding sweets.
I'm glad I'm getting back into training mode. Three months until RAGBRAI! http://ragbrai.com -- A week solid of riding 60-75 miles a day! I'll be in better shape by then.
ETA: I'm thinking about some kind of strength activity to complement all the cycling and help my posture and upper body. I quit our gym membership because it just wasn't getting used that much. I get very bored with weight routines anyway. I will be swimming a few times a week once our pool opens in late May, but that only does so much -- I think I need something with more resistance. was thinking about getting myself to a yoga class again a couple of times a week, since I'm way out of that habit. I saw that Viva has been enjoying a lot of success in toning and losing some inches with barre, and wondered if that would be a good idea. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd welcome those.
