Headbands?

Where can I get some cute headbands? I really like the kind that are on Anthropologie and Nordstrom, but spending upwards of $30 on a headband is a crime to me. I'm especially in love with this one:

Urban Outfitters, which is usually my go-to store for accessories, seems to have an obsession with plumage and peacock feathers that I do not share, and the rest of them are kind of plain and boring.

Also, is wearing your handband hippie style becoming fashionable? I think it looks ridiculous but I keep seeing it throughout my search:

It's really annoying because it's hard for me to tell what they would look like when worn normally.

I also tried Etsy but I'm not finding many skinny headbands. I can't have anything thick with short hair now. Any other places worth checking out?

I think you can easily make some headbands yourself. Claire's sells very thin plastic headbands in packs of three. You can embellish them with some vintage buttons, flowers, thrifted earrings, etc. using super glue and voila! One of a kind headbands for super cheap!
I actually like the ones with feathers so I made one exactly this way and I really like it. I bought the feathers from Michael's.

I can never seem to pull off hairbands that well - I just don't seem to have the right head shape but I have a girlfriend who is a headbank junkie! I swear she buys a headband everywhere we go. Anyway, she loves the ones at J.Crew - they usually have tons of prints, thin ones and thick ones and they always seem to be on sale (at least in store).

I was just looking at J Crew because they had one from last year that I really liked (it looked silly on me though--the decoration was too big for my little head). They don't seem to have any now though. Maybe they only have them in store.

I was going to say JCrew - they always seem to have tons and tons of them, in everything from tortoise shell to grosgrain ribbon. Maybe check in store.

Maya, I absolutely love headbands and find that the thinner ones suit me best and create a nice pop of color against my dark hair! Forever 21 has a nice selection of sets of 3 with some lovely colors - the fuschia and coral ones I wore in my latest set of outfit photos came in a set with a navy blue one. I also just got a tan one win a small bow from modcloth.com that is only slightly wider. Hope that helps - I'd post links but I'm on my iPhone!

I'm guessing H&M might have a few too Maya.

I'm not convinced that you can only wear skinny headbands from now on. I would definitely still try some medium wide ones (or even wide ones) too if I were you. (that's why I have included some of those as well;-)

Oh and I agree: I don't like the hippie style of wearing them either (I've seen it on celebs like Nicole Ritchie and Mischa Barton as well, and I just don't care for it).

Maya, if you have a small head, then you may want to check out teenagerish stores, like Claires for cheap headbands. I have found lots of cute ones for my daughter at Target, also. Ya know what, I'll ask her to go thru her hairband bucket and take out any that she does not wear anymore. I'll photo and post them if you're interested.

I think I'm looking for cloth ones mostly. Metal and plastic headbands usually give me a headache where they press against my head, right behind my ears.
