How stores are filled with holiday looks ALREADY - both brick 'n mortar and online? It started at the end of September. In the US, anyway. Same in your neck of the woods? Way, way earlier than is typical.

Maybe there is a demand for it and retail is being clever about it! I've been doing quite a bit of event shopping with clients lately, so it makes sense. I'm thankful for the early timing of the merchandise. The world is catching up with everything as we head out of the pandemic.....

Have also noticed how much Winter merchandise - as in heavy knitwear and coats - are being styled with Summer sandals. No socks or hosiery with the sandals, but bare-feet. My feet are always cold so I'm sticking with my usual footwear coverage!

This is probably due to ongoing concern with inflation. I believe holiday shopping for clothing, in particular, may be pretty muted. I know mine will be.

I was out all day yesterday in stores - no sign of holiday stock yet . Fall is not even finished with deliveries still coming to indies .

Nuance has a good point about rising prices and inflation / recession being a worry . Are there going to be as many holiday events this year with costs of food as it currently is ? I know we’re not doing our annual pre- holiday cocktail party this year for the first time in decades . It’s just simply too costly now .

Wow. I haven't been in the stores yet but the windows I've noticed are still just filling up with fall clothing, not that anyone here is wearing it yet -- still too warm!

Was watching some fashion shows and was wondering about sandals with coats trend. Does nor make any sense

Interesting the change - I wonder why holiday looks have moved forward - maybe shifting stock that hasn't been sold over the last couple of years?

I don't understand sandals and bare legs with winter looks either.... maybe with tights it can look quite fun.

I have also noticed a lot of holiday wear in our local Bay Area stores - lots of velvet and glitz. Perhaps more people are thinking about going to parties this year after the past two years of quiet living.

I haven't seen the sandals with fall/winter clothes. Makes my feet cold to think about it.

The only store I've been in was Costco to get flu and covid shots last week. They had a lot of Christmas trees and decorations for sale.

I haven’t seen this yet in clothing retail. But I had to go to Michael’s yesterday for a little project supply run, and the holiday stuff is right out there with the pumpkins and skeletons.

I can’t even think about holiday stuff yet. We will be deep into renovation mode in December, so no holiday decorations this year, and I have absolutely no clue yet if any holiday events will be on the calendar this year. If they do come up, I’ll be shopping my closet.

A friend on the US East Coast posted on FB a picture in Costco, with Christmas holiday decorations. No Halloween to be found. Curious!

But I hadn't noticed the holiday attire in stores. I haven't been in Nordstrom for a few weeks, and I didn't see anything like that in my visits to Madewell or JCrew.

Banana Republic's ads have been full of luxe looking outfits that could be seen as festive, if not specifically party-wear.

I think online retailers want us to buy early this year so we don’t clog up holiday shipping. It was over capacity last year.

Yes! I was so surprised to see sequinned pants, satin slip dresses, fuzzy sweaters with marabou, and a surprising amount of blinged out footwear (including sparkly sandals).

Can’t say that I’ve noticed winter garments with sandals. It’s just not the done thing north of the 49th parallel - unless it’s those crazy kids in the PNW

In NZ obviously the seasons are opposite, but I did notice last week, when it was still September, that a “pop up store” of The Christmas Temptations Company had already opened- 3 months ahead of Christmas, which did feel early. For us with it being summer by then anyway the pretty party dresses are in stores for warmer weather.
I am still excited about all the fuchsia I am seeing, but not buying, more planning outfits with some of my older bright stuff. It is too cold to wear Spring clothing yet, we are having a week of back to colder weather ( “polar blast”, they say).

I have noticed more and early holiday stuff, in general, in the couple of stores I’ve been in. I feel like it’s not ahead of what people are doing, though. We have had a huge amount of Halloween decorations up at work since mid-September.

I haven't been into a lot of stores recently, but walk by store windows every day, and no holiday looks so far. I did see an antiques store that already had a large Christmas tree at the entrance:-)

I haven’t noticed too much Christmas stuff but I do notice that the summery stuff comes out when we are in the depth of winter. Not sure why? Maybe to get us organised or to give us hope.

I’m wondering if it’s do to uncertainty in the supply chain. I know that even This spring things that would have taken 6 to 7 weeks from factories to store in 2019 where taking anywhere from 8 to 15 weeks. So if your going to bring in merchandise with a very limited selling season you’d probably assuming the longer shipping times to insure enough selling time.

Not here just yet, but there were a lot of Halloween things in shops since early September. Agreeing it's probably last year's overstock.

I only shop online but now that you mention it yes the heavy winter and holiday has come sooner than expected. I have raynauds. It’s booties in summer. Warm, protected and happy feet a must.

I haven't really been clothes shopping out here but one thing I will say is that the 'puffer & slides' look is very popular here, every winter. Sometimes even flip flops!

It isn't even truly fall yet here. I an still wearing tanks with toppers if needed. I am definitely not thinking of the December holidays yet.
