Of the entire list, all are no's except for the last one : Irregular outfit juxtaposition. Dressy tuxedo stripe pants with leather sneakers, tank , and bomber jacket was my most recent example. Another perfect teaching moment for me today - how retail trendiness is not my jam and is often predicated on the younger consumer. Denim-on-denim, acid wash, 80's redux = not how I want to present myself. Utility/military/safari - those are classic looks to me, and I've always loved them.

What a great question! Looking over the list I see that trends really do influence my thrifting. I have picked up patterns, including chain pattern, a slip dress, and of course trendy shorts (although they were part of my style before they were specifically trendy). No acid wash for me so far - I have a sort of environmental ick factor but truthfully I never loved the look. (Of course now I will inevitably find a pair I like.) Jumpsuit, suit, check. Shoes - well I am an omnivore there. Irregular outfit juxtaposition is somewhere near the core of my style too.

Not much but I like to play ...

Jumpsuit - easy to wear and fit
High rise - but not super high and although I’m most comfortable surrendering the waist I have embraced a bit of waist definition this summer too
Utility - currently looking for a subtle pair of camo jeans to replace a pair of burgundy pairs as the “fun” jeans in my wardrobe
Wide legs - definitely summer only
Every style of footwear - considering a pair of white leather sneaks (out of my comfort zone) instead of “another” pair of suede ankle booties

Yes to more color (greens, corals and browns) and patterns, sneakers with everything and more denim.

The 80s/90s part made me laugh. DD came upstairs yesterday and if you swapped out the brand labels and gave her a perm it would have been EXACTLY was I was wearing at 19: Chambray striped shirt, denim mini skirt, tennis shoes with gold eye catching earrings and a scrunchy at her wrist. The only noticeable differences were her iWatch where I would have had a swatch, and the straight hair.

I love a good trend. It’s easier for me to say what I don’t do... altho a lot of the trends I do anyways. I think the one thing that I’m ramping up because it’s the thing now is high rise.

What I’m not doing: beige, long wide pants, shorts, turquoise. Just too far from my bailiwick.

Lisa P, that's not entirely accurate! You've adopted: Individualism, Playful Suiting, Structure/No Structure, Irregular Outfit Jxtaposition, Utility, Hints of Turquoise, and Trendy Footwear. You do a subtle '80s Redux by favouring fluid tops over slim pants, and I've seen Maximal moments too.

Angie - funny, but I don't wear these with any nod toward a trend. Mixed structure, long-over-lean = they just work for me and are not new looks at all. Maybe I just transcend the trends

Hmm, I have one wide-cropped pant, have started trying to create the look of a higher-waist where I can, and even just bought ankle strap, low heel sandals in a tan/cognac colour. For me, that's a lot of trends!

Okay. Here's mine:

-Individualism (I believe I've figured out 'me' in the past year, and I'm milking MY signiture Happy Tomboy style for all it's worth! I really enjoy the varied fashion choices available, but don't feel compelled to chase every trend.)
-Structure (not so much No Structure)
-Denim on denim (especially blue denim on top and white denim on the bottom)
-Shorts (but that's part of my personal style already)
-Earth tones (red natch, but adding olive is an ongoing project)
-Utility (will do more when it gets cooler with dark olive chinos and olive BR utility jacket - which I can't wait to get into more frequent rotation!)
-Footwear (flats: sneakers, pointy toe dressy, loafers).

The recent acquisition of a midi length skirt (my dresses are structured, closer to the body, and at the knee or just above) has piqued my interest. Adding a midi dress (or two) might just be what I need to evolve my style in a romantic/alluring direction I'd like to explore.

I've adopted the sporty luxe look of sneakers with dressier items. The attached photo is a new pair of sneakers from Mango MNG that arrived yesterday. They're super comfy. I'm just enjoying fashion in which to quote Cole Porter, "Anything Goes!"

I’m surprised because I feel like I’ve adopted quite a few:
Individualism (definitely feel like I am doing my own thing)
Maximalism (lots of metallics in my wardrobe now)
Beige (I recently bought some beige/stone coloured boots)

Here is my report:

Individualism - I have been definitely been wearing my signature style and choosing which trends I want to wear.

Beige - I would love to add some beige to my wardrobe but I was on a shopping fast. I do have some in my wardrobe.

80's & 90's - Fringe (I thought that was 70s), Flares, Graphic Tees, Oversized Sunnies. Combat Boots, Palazzo Pants, Lug Soles, Wide Legged Pants with Flats.

High Rises - I have embraced this trend and I am hoping to add more high rise pants to my wardrobe.

Structure - Yes! I finally realized that I need structure. Forget the flowy tops. Definitely showcasing the waist.

Denim on Denim on Denim - Well, I always did this. Yesterday, I wore a faded denim shirt and dark denim cropped jeans.

Utility - I have always loved this look. I always have Cargo pants and a Chore/Utility Jacket in my Summer Wardrobe.

Wide Cropped Pants - Of course.

Roomy Full-Length Pants - I will if I see them.

Mustard, Earth Tones, Orange and Coral - Always.

Hints of Turquoise and Bright Green - I am on the fence about turquoise. I do have some turquoise jewellery that I have considered wearing recently. Does that count?

Footwear - Birks and more Birks. I don't have a choice in the footwear department.

Juxtaposition - My favourite styling tool. I love the look of a denim jacket with a dress or a graphic tee with dressy trouser and a blazer.

Fun question! I've adopted more than I thought I would. Maximalism or at least my very sober version of it. Nineties redux with round glasses and palazzo pants. 80'ies white footwear. More pattern than before. Individualism. I even bought a midi dress.
Would have loved more high waists but tummy issues have prevented that.
Beige and earth tones will never be big in my book :).
I'm getting curious for fall!

I have to say no to most of these and those that are yes are things I never gave up. I do have a pair of wide crops, a little bit of fringe, a lot of beige. Denim is my weekend staple and I like prints and have always worn shorts. I'm also curious about the latest fall trends.

I have embraced or at least am trying several of these trends...individualism maximalism, higher rises, some turquoise, utility pants, earth tones, more beige, greens, wide crops, wider pants in general. I am not afraid to do multiple denim and plan to this fall when a denim jacket is not too warm. I am also planning to do more plaids than usual, wear sneakers with everything. I would welcome a pants suit but have not found the right one and have rather casual versions in navy, grey ( graphite) and black .

After years of honing my personal style, I don't go down the trendy path too much, unless it's by accident. These trends get kind of exhausting after awhile, so I'm happy watching from the sidelines. Until I get bored, that is, then watch out!

For me personally, following trends is not a specific goal. I wear styles and items that I like, whether they are trendy or not. They have to feel right for my personality, my body and my lifestyle.
However, these are some items I have purchased in 2019 and which likely are more or less trendy:
● Hot pink party pants suit
● Light pink floral midi dress
● Ankle-long soft skirt, charcoal with white Breton-stripes
● Black floral wide long pants
● Short shorts with a "ceramics tiles" pattern in blue, white and grey
● Long ruffled tee with vertical stripes (of various widths) in pink, red, green, white and shades of blue
● Two pairs of block heels: white dressy sandals and deep blue suede mules
● Red suede ballet flat loafers
● White sneaker loafers with grey-white polkadots
● Thin short caftan with a "jungle leaves" pattern in shades of blue plus white

I've especially embraced high rises, wide crops, midis (but that is a given for me), 80s Redux (in jackets with some shoulder padding), and playful suiting (worn with sneakers). Also utility.

"My" earthtones are not terribly earthy -- mostly taupe. But I did add a pair of olive pants for summer and a mustard bag and I am going to have to create a complement for that so I see a bit more earthiness in my future -- in a very measured dose.

It is so fun to revisit this - and also for me, being in the Southern Hemisphere - seeing how influenced I am by YLF and what you ladies are wearing for your spring and summer:

Score - YES 14/20
NO 6/20
Happy with this - as I have only embraced the trends that speak to me and there was more than enough to keep things looking fresh.

YES - Love these trends:
Individualism - I have a certain consistency in how I dress and look, to the extent that I have friends sending me pictures / emails when they see something that they this is so me.
Maximalism - my style is maximal - as a child of the 80's I make no apology for that!
Explosion of pattern - I am more of a solids with one pattern BUT, I am onto this because of leopard which I treat as a neutral and wear it with everything like it is my second skin.
80's & 90's - soo into these, even bought a red leopard slip dress!
Jumpsuit jive - I have 6 jumpsuits and am not allowed to even look at any more as I love them.
High rises - love the high rise jeans.
Midi mania - most new dresses and skirts have been midis and loving the extra length.
Playful suiting - YES - this has been the focus of my most recent suit purchases for work.
Structure / No Structure - lots of structure for me. Only one very oversized blazer added and then I wear it belted to add structure!
Utility - bought a unisex casual rain jacket from Onituska Tiger (Japan) and love it. My son also looks cute in it too!
Earth tones - Leopard is a big YES
Turquoise and bright green - added lots of turquoise which is a favourite colour
Every style of footwear - embraced sneakers in a big way since going to Japan and not been so reliant on boots, varying my shoes and adding coloured pumps
Irregular outfit juxtaposition - sneakers and sequins probably makes this one a yes too.

NOOOO! That is just not me:
A billion shades of beige - almost all beige has been edited out of my wardrobe, only one beautiful coat remains.
Acid wash - NEVER wore it in the 80's and not about to start now.
Denim on denim on denim - I can wear two denims together, but have not got to 3.
Wide cropped pants - not found any that work on me.
Roomy full length pants - not there yet.
Shorts - still prefer those jumpsuits with shorts on me

Uh, oh. A bit more trendy than I thought I was:

Very maximal. No such thing as too many accessories or too many scarves. Lots of texture and pattern mixing.

'80s: One ruffled blouse (below), but I went all out. Those ruffles are HUGE on me! One pair of acid washed high rise jeans; also have a few others not shown. I have been waiting years for the secure feeling of high rises/pants that don't slide down. Also love big shoulders since I am slightly narrow shouldered.

'90s: Lots of lug soles and chunky black footwear. See below. My right toe doesn't bend, so uber chunky is best for me. And okay, I get a kick out of my Jeffrey Campbell fog boots because they are so silly.

One jumpsuit. Utility jacket that I bought as a $20 souvenir at the Talbots Outlet store near the hotel where we were staying; two months later and it is $49 (from $129) on the Talbots web site.

You will not see me in beige or mustard unless a costume party requires me to look like Death Warmed Over. Also, no shorts although I own a single pair in case I need to be so active that a skirt or dress won't do.
