Hi Stylish Ladies,

Some new purchases that I would like to run past you.

#1 Patterned pants!! Totally out of my comfort zone. They are kind of slouchy and are very comfortable. This is my fist attempt at styling them. Master 8 thinks they are awful (he might be right?!)

#2 & #3 Is a breezy blouse in Apricot. The color is much more vibrant in real life. I like it over black pants and just tried it with my blue skinnies for fun.

#4 & #5 is a black asymetrical hem dress worn with leggings. 4 has the dress tied at the front and 5 is with it hanging loose. And I am sorry I know its hard to really see the dress... I am still struggling to photgraph black well.

Styling is at a minimum here and accessories have not been well thought out yet.

Love to know your thoughts on these.

Wow! You look so stylish. 1-3 are keepers in my book, love all 3. The knot in the front in #4 seems to add volume, does it feel that way to you? I really like #5 as well, the red flats are a perfect touch. I have to remind myself that it is warm where you are:)

LOVE the pants and both breezy blouse looks! The dress is hard to see - can we get a close-up? I'm having a hard time seeing how it fits and what the style is...

Cracking up about Master 8! I have one of those too - he'd like me to be in pink dresses and heels at all times.

I love all the outfits on you. The pants are fun, and I really, really like them with that jacket. To me, the proportions look perfect. I might go with a shorter necklace, as the pendant seems to compete with the belt. Otherwise super. I like the coral top with the blue skinnies as well as the black! The dress and leggings with those pops of red are stunning, too. I like the dress both ways, tied and loose. You carry off the length and volume well! You look casually elegant.

I love how you styled the pants! a perfect combo in my eyes...I won't even dare such pants!

the shirt seemed pretty but volumous, loved the combo with blue and would not add much more as this seemed striking

also thought the dress should not be tied, and it looked best to me with the black necklace...

You MUST keep the patterned pants! Master 8 is adorable but don't take fashion advice from him -- you look AMAZING in #1!!

Love 2 and 3, too! Also like 4 and 5 with a slight preference for 4.

Tina, I agree the dress is better draped not tied. It's a very comfortable dress for the hot weather (I have the same one in another color already) and I find it can be dressed up or down quite easily.

Una, thank you, I was quite anxious about posting the pants as it's a quite an "out there" look for me but I am determined to try new things. My Master 8 has some very strong opinions and is always happy to voice them lol.

Thans mamaKate. And yes that is Master 8 in the photo..I forgot to crop it. He is very au fait with YLF and often asks if Angie has posted a new outfit and then like to have a look!! He told me he thinks she is very beautiful:)

Jayne, trust me there was a time pre YLF when I would NEVER have tried patterned pants!

I am keen to wear #1 to work tomorrow bit I can only imagine what hubby is going to say when he sees them. I suspect his response may be similar to Master 8

Thanks MaryK, was posting same time as you :). Sometimes Master 8 proves to have a very good eye for style, however I always prefer to defer to the wisdom of my YLf sisters.

Hi Deborah. Fun purchases, all of them. I like the patterned pants but my guess is you"ll have to be in the right mood to wear them. It might take some time before you're comfortable with them. Persevere, please. Looks 2&3 are fail safe for summer when it's not ridiculously hot. When it is, 4&5 are absolute winners. I know, because this has been my go to formula for our latest run of high 30's. I made several dresses from the same pattern and wear them with 3/4 leggings sitting at that sweet point on the calf. I love your textured ones but would not venture there; I am breaking DH into the leggings look slooowly. His first reaction was"What! Are they meant to show?" Now that is one totally unreconstructed 1950's male speaking!

I didn't expect to like them, but they look pretty elegant to me! Good for a less formal office or dinner, IMHO.

Love your style. #1 is fantastic, I hope you wear it. I really like the dress, can't tell if it is better tied or not. But those leggings are super fab! The red and the black is a great combination. Also love the apricot top. Maybe I prefer it with the black jeans, but that might just be my eyes are not in summer mode yet.

The pants are bold but lovely on you! Apricot top is beautiful with your hair and skin tone. I like all of it. The dress is pretty nice and you have styled it beautifully with the red accents.

I like all of these outfits. Agree that the dress is better untied. As for the patterned pants I might try a lighter weight shoe, ie. strappier sandal, just to see how that looked.

Master 8 is very charming, but wrong, wrong, wrong about the patterned pants! You look fab in those--keep! I also think the black dress works beautifully for you and your wardrobe. I am so-so about the peach top. On one hand I really love the color on you; on the other hand I'm not totally sold on the cut of it (particularly the 3/4 gathered sleeves and the straight bottom hem hitting where it does). Just my two cents, of course! How do you feel in it? Sounds like you love it?

I love the pants and the black dress...unknotted.
I'm actually not all that keen on the blouse.. I think I'm allergic to rounded necklines with added gathering. To be completely honest, I don't think it's the most youthful silhouette out there.

Penny, you DH sounds so funny. I find the dress/leggings combination so comfortable and cool but you still look 'dressed'. Its one of my go to forumulas as well.

Thanks Mander, my office is pretty relaxed so I am thinking I might wear #1 to work to test it out and see how I feel.

missvee, I do have more strappy black sandals but they have quite a high heel. I will try and see how they look. They could be an option if I wore the outfit out for dinner and only had to be in my heels for a few hours.

Jonesy, thank you. The patterned pants actually made me think of you and I was thinking back over your outfit posts to work out how to style them. I have similar thoughts to you and Queenmum about the blouse, but I do really like it. And QM I do appreicate your honesty. I think with a bit more thought, I can make it work better.

Angie, thank you. I actually tried the top on over my cream skinny jeans and I really liked the combo (I don't have white pants). I even photographed it but forgot to post it. I can see white really making the apricot pop but do you think the cream would be ok too? Or maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy some white jeans And I can so see you in patterened pants like these. The thing I found interesting when styling them was I orginally pictured wearing a top untucked and over the pants but it really shortened me. Tucked definitely seems to create better proportions. I am considering other tops and am thinking something asymetrical that is shorter at the front and longer at the back might work??

Somehow I am late here but wow, I am glad I stopped by! Those patterned pants are fantastic on you (as you already know) so you must ignore the adorable Master Eight on this one matter. By the way, is he soon to be Master Nine?

LOVE the coral top, too, and it's a surprising colour for you. Both looks are great and I expect it will be wonderful with cream and white.

The dress is of course a bit harder to see, but if you already have a similar one and know it works for you, then you know you are onto a good thing!

Anna, glad you like the pants! I have tried on one two pairs recently but he pattern never seemed to work. For your info they are Threadz, a local Aussie label. I am sure you will find your perfect pair.

Hey Deb you could not look bad in anything if you tried My inner jury is out on the dress, probably a good one for around the house it looks really comfy. Where are those patterned pants from, I want some!

P.S. cant believe you can still wear leggings in January!
