Pleats and tapered ankles have been a no-no for me for as long as I can remember. Yet I've fallen for all the slouchy and tapered looks you all have been posting over time. Today I went shopping to look for a denim jacket to go with the dress I posted yesterday, and instead found these pants.

They are WAY outside my comfort zone. But are one of the most comfortable things I've ever put on. Even if they are deemed unfit for public consumption, I will happily wear these around the house. Final sale, but so comfy that I couldn't leave them behind.

Ah, the zippers. I fell for those first, otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed them. There are three zippers on the waist, and the pleats begin below that. Those shoes are the only non-slippers I had upstairs with me, but that is generally what most of my shoes look like.

Is there anything to watch for with the whole slouchy/pleaty look? I keep thinking about Rae's white jeans post yesterday and wondering if I look like I'm smuggling something, and if that's a bad look in this case, or not since it's an intentional pleat.

1 -- best view of the pleats and slouch that I could get.
2 -- the zippers!
3 -- styled, somewhat
4 -- side view where you can see the pouchiness of the pleats

I think these pants need a more fitted look up top, right? I really need some new jackets, stat. ALL my old ones are just too big now, even though I'm only *barely* down one size. That off-white one in the photo below was just shy of being too small when I bought it a couple of months ago (thrift store), and now it's almost too big. I found a nearly perfect denim jacket at JCP but it was too tight in the underarms. Next size up was too loose everywhere. What else can I wear with these pants so that I don't look like I stepped out of the 80's?
