Have I found my mother of the groom dress? And how to style it?

I think I have found my dress. Here are two that I have ordered. The first dress doesn’t need a lot. I can wear a necklace with it. But maybe you have other ideas? #2 There is a knot close to my clavicle. For this reason jewellery, like a necklace, doesn’t work. Necklaces are always what I’ve gone for. Do you have any ideas on how to dress up this dress a little bit?. I really appreciate your advice! What do you think? Can I stop searching?

Which one is your preferred?

I really love the elegant lines of the first one -- that collar! It feels really festive and lovely with the swishy skirt. I think it's gorgeous on you. And if I recall correctly the bridesmaids are in navy so it would be a nice tonal mix?

Definitely a necklace and whatever dressy footwear works for the situation. Fabulous dress!

#1 is dressier, but #2 is a beautiful fit too. Less dressy. Colour is smashing on you!!

Silver shoes, bag, and bling.

For #2, try blingy earrings and a wrist cuff.

Lovely dresses! #1 is dressier but seems that the bodice is not a perfect fit. Or maybe it’s how it looks in this photo.

#2 is absolutely gorgeous, too. What a beautiful color on you!
Long earrings is my go to for the special events but it depends on your hairstyle for the big day.

Oh gosh, these are both absolutely gorgeous! I would say choose the one that *feels* the most comfortable - I agree that a blingy earring would be a gorgeous addition to both. The first one you could definitely wear a necklace too, that sits sort of in the middle of the open section.

Two stunning options. I lean toward #1 but it depends on how you feel and the dressiness level of the wedding. You can't go wrong either way.

Lovely dresses - I agree they are both really good on you so it comes down to preference. Earrings I think would be a good way to add some sparkle, and then silver, blue or black shoes depending on your own preference.

Ha! I am delighted but also amused- delighted because cobalt is probably my favourite colour but amused because in your previous post you said not blue
I have a reasonably strong preference for #1. It looks dressier and you could wear a pretty necklace and earrings.
I bought a small sapphire pendant on a silver chain and matching sapphire drop earrings for my MOB outfit.
Yay for finding 2 good options!

Gorgeous dresses, can’t go wrong with either one, I also recommend wearing shoes lol, along with some pretty earrings and/ or necklace depending on hairstyle and dress choice.

2, and you could polish it with your hair, earrings and shoes. The color is lovely and the fit is so flattering no need to "gild the lily"

So, I am thrilled to find two dresses. And in the end,I think I may let the bride (and my son and her mother) decide.

Suz, Style Fan, Jaime and Helena, thank you for the compliments. I do love them both. I was shocked that I liked the second at all. I didn't see myself in the mirror before I showed my daughter and she looked at me and said - that's the one. I do like the "dressiness" of the first better, but I feel quite elegant the second.

Jenni, yes. I wasn't going to go for blue, but the bride has changed her mind to green bridesmaid dresses. This is such a relief because blue dresses are quite easy to find.

Irina and Ang, yes, the first needs a good press, however, I should try a better "push up" bra. I have a long torso and sometimes the cut/darts on the dress are too high for where my "ladies" sit. Does that make sense? Irina, (my mother's name!) you may be right. I'll be visiting my mom tomorrow, so I may bring it to her and she'll tell me what she thinks.

Vildy, I was thinking of a brooch. That might be a fun thing to look for in a vintage shop.

Dee, Phoebe, Sal - yes to shoes! I'm in Canada, but my daughter wanted good lighting. The ground is freezing. Ang... silver shoes would be wonderful, but my very large feet are also an issue! We shall see!

I'm very pleased with my choices and you have made me realize that they are good choices.

I'm also excited about the prices. I have a budget so am so happy to say that both dresses were found on major sale at The Bay (Canadian department store online) and
#1 was $150
#2 was $80.

I second Angie's ideas on how to bling up the second dress. Sparkly earrings and brackets would be lovely. I like sparkly snow flakes for winter, maybe stars or flowers for other seasons. I like your idea of getting input from the bride. You look stunning.

Marija, for $80 I would keep the dress #2 in any case. You can wear it to another event. It looks so good on you

Wow- both are great and at first I thought I liked # 1 absolutely best because of the portrait type neckline and swishy skirt, but on second look I am thinking 2 looks more youthful- perhaps because it is a touch less dressy and looks more “ active”, if that’s a thing for a dress. Or it fits better?
I might see what the shoe options are, as sometimes the shoe picks the dress!

Wow, what finds with both dresses - great fit & colour on you, plus the price seems right!

For an event as special as your child's wedding, I'd go with #1 - it feels festive without screaming it, & the silhouette looks like it would be more forgiving post-dinner

The knotted neckline, tapered skirt & 'half' sleeves on #2 are lovely but remind me a little more of elevated workwear - agreed that you should still keep it, but perhaps for a cocktail party. Is it a stretchy jersey fabric?

How about dangly earrings + adding a shiny brooch to the belt of #1? A sparkly cuff bracelet & silver clutch could work with either dress too.

If your feet are fussy I'd recommend adding shoe clips to some already comfy shoes, to make them more party appropriate

really really like nr 2! If I remember right, you mentioned that it would have been a relaxed wedding. For me, the material of nr 2 would fit better this type of wedding as it more of an understated elegance and a modern classic. I would just add a nice pair of earrings and a delicate bracelet. The colour of nr 1 is also great on you but - to my eyes, and I am not an expert - it looks a bit dated.

These are both great! Good idea to let the bride have a say. I agree that it might be worth it to keep them both, although maybe one in a different color.

Both are great! 1 is more wedding appropriate but 2 would be good for work. A silver shoe/bag complement, bracelet + earrings and good to go!

I personally prefer the first one in how it frames your face and neck, but they are both lovely. Lucky you! I'd skip any necklaces and wear a statement bracelet or grouping of finer ones . With 3/4 sleeves, it's the perfect opportunity to show off your wrists, hands etc. Earrings depend on how you will wear your hair.
