Mary, yes! I do really like the look of a tall boot with a longer skirt or dress, so I do want to keep a couple of pairs. I’m on the fence about the tan pair but they are super soft and are a nice light-colored alternative to lighten up the bottom half of a skirt outfit — they go with a surprising number of my skirts!
Pirouette, I get it! I have thick legs. I never loved skinny jeans on me but when it was the prevailing look I adapted. Now my entire comfort zone has shifted!
Angie, so much wisdom! I am really off of bodycon looks now, with an occasional exception of a fitted top, and even then I have to be having a good body image day, LOL.
Stretchy skinnies feel dated to me *for my style* and that’s what I felt last night when I tried my old ones on. I couldn’t take them off fast enough! I would perhaps be willing to do a straight leg with less stretch and more ease tucked into a tall boot, but that’s a hard fit to achieve for those of us with thick legs. It’s just more work than I want to bother with.
Today doing some work on my closet, I remembered I did pick up a pair of slouchy taller boots at the end of last winter and forgot about them! See below for Find. They were on super deep sale and I tried them on with — weirdly enough — a pair of black joggers and liked the look. The joggers had just a little bit of volume and it worked with the room and slouch of the boot. Nothing tight, nothing too floppy. This may be a key for me.
