Has anyone used Try.com?

(Hi, a long-time lurker here--I have some hopes of being more active in the near future, especially now that I've gotten really into the Finds feature, but for now I'll just be popping in and out.)

Has anyone used Try.com before? I read about it on Lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/try-lets.....1716862551

They give you free shipping both ways with a 10-day return period, without charging your card until you decide to keep something (I'm guessing that they still put a temporary hold on). No minimum purchase, and the list of participating retailers includes stores that do have a minimum for free shipping, or don't offer free returns, like Zara and J.Crew.

It kind of seems too good to be true. The business model I guess is predicated on commissions? Wondering if anyone has tried this yet.

I haven't, but yea, it does sort of make you wonder . . . 10 days would be too short of a window for me sometimes, anyway. I wouldn't want to take the risk.

Interesting - kind of like my friends who have Amazon Prime and thus buy items when they think of it one by one rather than waiting to get a larger order together, which is how I still shop online most of the time. Presumably they're hoping that once people sign up, they will order more than they would have otherwise, knowing that they don't have to worry about being charged or the return process.

I wonder if the 10 days starts when it's mailed, or (hopefully) when you receive it. If the latter, that would be plenty of time for me. I also wonder if you ship back to them and they're acting as the intermediary, or if they're just doing the purchase/back-end stuff and you mail directly back to the retailer.

The only retailer on their currently supported list that I'd be interested in is Bloomingdale's; ASOS already has free shipping and returns over some quite minimal amount, and I have never bought from any of the others. If they added some of the other retailers I shop at who don't regularly offer free/discounted shipping and returns, I'd be willing to try it.

Laura - if you sign up for a Loyallist card (which is free and more like a supermarket loyalty card than a credit card--they also have a store CC which is different), you can get free shipping no min at Bloomingdales. And returns are free for everyone, it looks like.
