Has anyone tried on the J Crew REGENT TOPCOAT IN BLACK WATCH FLANNEL

Is this a heavy coat or could this be worn as indoor topper? As always I am on long jacket/topper hunt and I have a sweet spot for black watch tartan in particular. Does anyone have any intell to share on weight and sizing? Many thanks!!

I love. It and I, too, am a black watch fan. It's under the "Coats" category and it looks like outerwear, although not really heavy winter wear.

We can admire together retailgirl!! Yes, I know it's under coats but I have a number of toppers from various stores (nordies to AT to Ef and if they are light enough they make fab winter blazers. Hope springs eternal. Hoping someone will have tried it on and save me the guess work!!

Oh, I have it in my collections, too, gryffin!! I was hoping the opposite (wanting a wonderful outerwear piece) but it's hard to say because I haven't seen it in person. It would be lovely on you if it is lightweight. Or maybe you would like it as outerwear.

If I get to the city and see one I will most certainly let you know. There are none to be seen in Kingston, alas.

Suz - it doesn't look heavy enough for real winter outerwear. I run very cold and we've been a snowy deep freeze in the north east. I was looking at a faux fur coat from fabulous furs - the snow leopard coat. Your major luxe Eskimo wear. I only have one floor length puffer and could use another really warm coat too. But I was hoping this would be long blazerish. I'd love your opinion if you see it! Maybe one of us will get lucky!!

OMG I'm so happy I clicked on this thread! I like the JCrew coat but wondered not only about how heavy it would be, but also whether the cut would suit me, since J Crew seems to cut so straight. But…but…the BCBG Arelia jacket now seems to be available in other patterns besides the plain black, which I have! This might be my long jacket purchase instead of the patterned one from Nordstrom… Thank you for linking those, Angie!

ETA: Darn, darn, darn. The striped one is only available in a L. I'm considering the textured black version, but a pattern would have been nice.

Angie - thank you that definitely answered my question. I had tried on the BCBG blazer that looked so stunning on Janet and it was awful on me. It flanged out at the hip and made me look like a bat ready for take off. I was so bummed out since Janet looks amazing in it. But not my cut for sure. I was actually looking for a long jacket which combines black/gray/white since am good with long black jackets (unless something amazing comes along). So I guess the hunt will continue. But I would have tried that black/gray anyway if they had my size!! So thanks so much for all the suggestions.

Janet - I'm so sorry. I almost posted for you but thought you'd have seen it. I saw that Nordies had the BCBG jacket in a texture but I assumed you'd have seen it. Sorry next time I will post just to be sure. That blazer looks amazing on you. I hope you try it!! I will enjoy vicariously. Wish that cut looked good on me!! Lucky girl!!!!!

I bought a blackwatch kilt and vest in england after college. I wore it will it fell apart. Best tartan ever. I don't know why we don't see it more. Just love it!! We will just have to form a "watch" club for it!!
