has anyone read the "What I Wore" book?

This is the one by Jessica Quirk, of "What I Wore" blog fame.

I'm interested in the book but many of the reviews on Amazon are pretty harsh. I can see the criticism if the book is only about her style, but frankly... I like her style!

Anyway... did you like it?

I've browsed it several times, but keep opting not to buy. I'm not entirely sure how she could get a whole book out of that theme... I'm afraid it might be boring.

It bothers me how the reviewers are so nasty. I can understand not liking a book. But does one really need to be venomous and personally insult the author over and over? Wow. It makes me want to buy the book just to support her.

I only browsed it in a bookstore, Brenda. That doesn't mean I didn't give it a good look. I don't remember the specific reasons, but it didn't resonate as that helpful to me. I am surprised about the nasty reviews, though! She certainly didn't merit those. I do remember the first time I came upon her website and found like 70 pics of each outfit (slight exaggeration)...I recall doing the eye-roll at the time...yeah, she's like 6' tall and cute and knows it, so maybe some of the spite was coming from that angle? I feel like reading the reviews now

There was a lot of drama on her blog and a lot of resentment when she stopped focusing on thrifting and started taking sponsors, ads, and free stuff. I only know because I happened to start reading fashion blogs right when it happened. Could be fall-out from all of that.

Thanks for the info, Una. It's too bad that so many would turn on her for starting to build an income from all the work she's been doing. Yikes. Maybe I just don't understand the issue well enough. [shrug]

I haven't read that one, but I read "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" by Ilene Beckerman and I thought it was charming.

I haven't read it. I used to read her blog but haven't in quite a while. i've just found others that I enjoy more. In addition to the drama AG mentions above there was the great comment controversy late in 09 early in 10. Some of the negative reviews may stem from that.
I do find it interesting that the reviews seem very either/or. People either loved it or hated it.
