Has anyone bought the Leith Waterfall cardigan?

I really want to like it but I'm surprised by the very slim fitting arms. I have really thin arms and even so these are fitted on me. Not really tight, stretchy, but very slim. I can see from a design standpoint that gives structure to the rest of the volume, but I'm wondering about use.

I would wear a cardigan in cooler weather...so I would likely already be wearing long sleeves. How do fitted sleeves work over looser ones? I tried it on over a blouse today and the blouse sleeves were all bunchy and uncomfortable under the cardigan sleeves, and it was obvious looking too. That would really limit its usefulness I would think, to only be able to wear it over other fitted sleeves or over sleeveless.

If this is a keeper for you, what are your thoughts about how to wear it? I'm thinking it would work best to extend the use of summer sleeveless tops into the fall, but I'm not really sure that is something I want to do!

I plan to always wear mine over short sleeves or sleeveless tops. I don't live in a climate where it makes sense to layer a topper over something with sleeves. Indoors, two layers of sleeves would be too warm and outdoors, you'd want an outer layer that blocks the wind.

Not that that helps you at all. Sounds like it's not a good fit for your climate if you need to have two layers.

You've discovered exactly why I'm returning mine. I have a layering phobia as it is, but this one would only work for me over sleeveless tops, which I was wearing in the store when I tried it on. I likely won't be wearing a sleeveless top in December though! Too bad, because I liked everything else about it.

I tried it and returned it. It looked odd over long sleeves and just didn't fit quite right. My climate requires layering for 8-9 months, so only bring able to wear it over a tank was't an option.

I was sad as I loved the color and the drape was so nice.

I did not keep this piece, because I was trying to pair it with a dress (and I did not care for the fit of the dress). I prefer to layer my cardigans with shells, tanks, and slim fit LS T's or tops.

It sounds like a no for that cardigan. I also have slender arms and recently found a (non NAS) cardigan too tight on my bare arms. Surprising, right? It makes me wonder who they have in mind when they make these.

Are you taking about this Leith cardi? If so - nah. You don't need to have narrow arms to wear it. I sized my six foot tall size 12 clients down in this style.

I bought it in burgundy--didn't size down because I'm already in an XS--and wearing it happily today! I do have to cuff the sleeves a few inches because I have short arms, but it doesn't overwhelm me at 5'2" and I don't find the sleeves too slim. Rather, the rib knit just doesn't lend itself to layering over long sleeves... I live in CA and was looking specifically for a warm office layer over sleeveless dresses and tops, so it fits my needs perfectly.

Angie, yes, that one. And I'm not saying the sleeves are tight...the fit fine and are stretchy. It's just that they show the lumps and bumps of trying to layer over other sleeves and in my climate I have no use for a sweater to wear over sleeveless!

I can wear it over sleeves and it doesn't seem too bulky, but it is fitted for sure.

Thanks, Peri. That's interesting too. All the clients who tried on the cardi were wearing sleeved tops underneath as a layer - there was plenty of room and it felt comfy. Perhaps you don't like the ribbing stitch on the sleeves?

i almost ordered this cardi, but thought I would look further for a more brown or taupe one. Also thought the sleeves looked too skimpy. These skimpy sleeves seems to be the norm in thinner fabric cardis, and I have fat arms. If anyone finds one with bigger sleeves I am interested in getting it, even if not in the colors of my choosing.

I tried this one on today--in olive and sized down to a small because the medium didn't have that elongated look, more like a tent in medium. The olive is gorgeous. Did try on the shift/tunic but they only had a large left so I couldn't judge the fit in a medium.

I am curious what colors I might wear under this sweater with jeans, for example. Olive for sure. Black? (don't wear black and white stripes or I'd try that combo); burgundy? navy? I rarely wear pink or I'd try that. I'm a strawberry blonde with green eyes.

I tried it but found the same - with a short sleeved tee it was lumping up at the layer, and the sleeve is too narrow to slide my hand up from the wrist opening and smooth things out. Too much fuss plus there was way too much fabric and length at the front for me.
