Hard edge with a not-so soft touch.

When I saw Angie's blog post the other day, I suddenly remembered this tunic, which I got at Christmas. and have not yet worn. Why, nobody knows... Anyway, I'm heading out tonight to a party, and thought I'd give this ensemble a try. My tunic isn't as "soft" as those in Angie's post, but I hope it still works.

What do you think?
Which bottoms?
I feel once I add the jacket, esp to the outfit with the leggings, that it all of a sudden looks like a too short dress. But I'm not wearing the jacket tonight.

It's pouring out, so tonight I'm going to wear rain boots there, and change into pumps. But maybe on another occasion I'll wear my boots.

Anyhoo, if any of you are out there, not in Boston, I'd love some thoughts! #1 is what I'm wearing tonight
#1-2 - pleather pants, pumps
#3-4 - leggings, Okalas
#5 - pleather pants, boots

And now I have to scoot and get hair and make up done!!!

I think if you grab a feminine bag, that just might give you the soft edge to round it out. I like it, but admit the touch of a little soft would balance it oh so well.

Oh, and I prefer look 1 or 2, because I like the peek of leg.

Totally works! I like it best with the pants and pumps in #1. I think the jacket looks fine as long as you're wearing pants. I think it would make it look like you were wearing a mini if you paired the jacket with the leggings. Have fun tonight!

Cool print! Unlike Carter, I like it better with the leggings, although a bit longer on the leggings would be OK with me.

Love #1 and #2 (although I do love the ankle strap shoes, too). I second a lighter bag, too! You do high contrast beautifully!

I vote for number 1! I think it looks great and I don't really see "hard edge" here.

I prefer the leggings and ankle strap shoes. The leggings are tighter and show off your legs. Maybe that is why I like that look better. Great tunic. You rock it.

I like both. I love the Okalas, but perhaps the pleather leggings are more modern than the leggings. EIther way looks great in my book!

I prefer the first version. It has a nice line and I like the bit of skin showing. The leggings version made me think of ",Grease" and if you don't mind me being honest, it just doesn't have the "sophistication" I am used to seeing on your outfits. Love the tunic.

Ooh - you look great in 1 and 2! I love! For myself, I don't like wearing pleather and leather together - its just my own personal hang up - so I'm glad that you're wearing #1. I think I would like it even better with the Okalas - they look more modern to me than the pumps - but that's a minor detail in the overall outfit! Hope you have fun - cuz you look very cool!

Thanks Marley. I should have taken a photo of #1 with the Okala's actually. I find the length of the pants hides the ankle strap detail, so don't tend to wear them with these pants, but really, so what. I'll get thoughts on that next time I wear them. If I remember

My favorite is the leggings and Okalas. I think I like the fitted and ladylike elements to balance out the darkness and edginess. Second favorite is the version with the pumps that you wore. I love the tunic whichever way you wear it!

I like the way that you wore it best. I hope that you were much admired.
