Reflecting on Angie's post on the wear quotient of wardrobe items, I'm feeling pleased with the results of culling in various categories - it's been a long process, but very rewarding.

For my lifestyle and style preferences, I think my proportions are about right with 17 work dresses (which I wear year-round to the office, where I spend most of my time, with blazers / cardigans and tights in the winter), 10 spring / summer weekend dresses, 7 fall / winter weekend sleeved dresses, 4 formal dresses, and 5 occasion dresses (which I gladly wear as often as I can, even if just to dinner with my husband). I have just a handful of other categories of items: 4 blazers, 5 cardigans, 5 shells, 2 suits, 5 coats (various weights), 10 scarves, and a pair of jeans, in case the rare occasion arises where I can't wear a dress (that said, I haven't needed to wear them in years!) These items give me enough variety in my favorite colors while suiting my style goals of polished elegance for work, vintage / modern classic for the weekend, and sophisticated glamour for special occasions.

Although there are still a few more items that I'd like to add (perhaps one more sleeved dress for fall/winter weekends, and a second wool winter coat), I'm trying to think of these as items that my wardrobe could accommodate if the perfect pieces came along, rather than items that I must acquire.

Thoughts on whether you're where you want to be or how you'd like for your wardrobe to evolve?
