Thank you Lisa! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Hopefully you are safe and warm despite the wicked storm in your neck of the woods. My family that is still in Winnipeg tells me they are really not happy to have snow this early in the year!
As a treat and something new this year my almost 23 year old son is cooking the meal!

No comment on the snow and recent blizzard. All I'll say is that we have NEVER had snow before Thanksgiving before, and that the number of trees that were downed and broken due to the weight of the heavy wet snow is absolutely heartbreaking. We were without power for only a few hours on Friday, but i have friends who were without for almost 3 days. Thankful indeed.

I'm cooking dinner for us 4 today (DD's bf is included) and roasting a farm fresh turkey , homemade slow cooker stuffing , baking biscuits (husband had this idea in his head and would not let go of it, so...) , doing mashed potatoes, a green salad with all sorts of interesting things in it, gravy, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce and of course, a pumpkin pie for dessert. Our condo smells heavenly, and we feel happy here today Only thing missing this year is a nice wine, but one can't break every health and diet rule all in one day - I picked pie over wine. Back to business tomorrow is all I can say

In honour of Canadian Thanksgiving, my Father’s wife made roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and red cabbage (Dad is German ) and krumkake with cloudberries and whipped cream for dessert (she is Norwegian). No wine here, either.

It is cool, but beautifully sunny in Seattle and I did a hike with my brother in the am.

Fingers crossed that we won’t have snow for a while, but I’m planning on making an appointment to have my snow tires put on.

Beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving, all!

We cooked turkey, roasted heritage carrots, potato and celeriac mash, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Plus, yes, wine! And we VOTED in early polls.

Lisa, I am so so sorry about that snow -- it is horrific. So many prairie friends talking about trees down. It's heartbreaking.

Happy belated Thanksgiving Lisa and all! Hope things are settling down a little in Winnipeg and that this is not a harbinger of things to come this winter! Your feast sounds delicious!

This year I did a make ahead turkey which worked SO well, I was shocked. My family, Dad and sister pile into my sister's cottage on Georgian Bay for Thanksgiving, so we have to keep it simple, but managed mashed potato, stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and my mom's famous raspberry trifle, which my dad did a fab job making in her memory this year. My kids favourite part is eating dessert leftovers for brekkie the next day

Late reporting in here too but our Thanksgiving was extra special this year because of my daughter's wedding in Cape Breton. We spent the whole long weekend at a wilderness resort off the Cabot Trail. The ceremony was on the Monday (with a catered dinner involving lamb shanks).
The groom's Mon and I did up Thanksgiving dinner on the Sunday. Family members were spread through three chalets each with a good big oven. My mom did her famous mashed potatoes with the cream cheese and sour cream, groom's mom did the turkey and gravy, the two other ovens did the roasted vegetables, boys made 4 pumpkin pies the day before.
We had 16 people, combined 3 tables in one kitchen, and magically had exactly the right amount of food.
Oh and we drank apple cider that we gathered apples and put through their cider press.
