Happy New Year! Some news, and the first purchase of the year

Good evening and Happy New Year! I have been lurking here but never had the energy to post/reply...
It was quite an eventful year.
I got promoted at work and had a miscarriage in the same week.
We moved, and finished the year with chickenpox for my girl.
Anyway, here is the first purchase of the year. I went to buy a lower heel, but fell in live with these. They are really comfortable!

It feels nice to be back!

Sorry to hear what you have been through ...

I have always liked oxfords worn with dresses. Not for me but I like to see the look on others - I like the juxtaposition of a feminine dress and a masculine shoe. Just an idea.

Those are a great purchase! I love heeled Oxfords, and just got the pair in the finds (my 3rd pair in 6 years, after wearing the first two into the ground.) I wear them with everything in the fall/winter- skirts, dresses, trousers.

Nice shoes with 70s vibes. Lots of possibilities. I imagine they will look great with for example:
- knee-length and midi dresses and skirts
- bootcuts and flared trousers
- pattern knitted sweaters
- turtlenecks
- knitted tights
- berets
- big plaid or pattern knitted scarves
- tweed, velvet and corduroy blazers
- a trenchcoat
- ponchos
- leather, suede and wool gloves
- a saddle shoulderbag

So sorry to hear that news. You must be amazing at partitioning your life to be able to do well enough at work to get a promotion while caring for a sick child.

Those shoes are great because they are so flexible. They’re so buttoned-down that I’d probably want something swishy with them, like an A-line or wider skirt or butcut.pants, but it’s hard to think of something they’d be bad with.

I'm so sorry to hear about what has been going on in your life...what a painful year it has been for you. I hope that you will be able to make some inroads in the healing process this coming year.

On a brighter note, I love the shoes. Too cute! I went through a phase some years back where I was looking for heeled oxfords. I never found a pair that suited me. I wanted to wear them maybe somewhat unconventionally...I was thinking of shorts with tights, or even over-the-knee socks (over tights) with a shorter skirt (to show of the tops of the OTK socks). If you like standing out from the crowd, maybe one of those options would work for you.

Thanks for your kind words and suggestions ladies! I should clarify a thing: by saying "I lost a baby" I meant I had a miscarriage. It was a bad translation, sorry about that, I am going to fix the original post.
As for the shoes: I am very inclined in wearing them with bootcut jeans and pants, or even shorter cigarette pants. As for skirts, I am a bit afraid of looking like Frau Rottermeier https://static1.squarespace.co.....teneer.jpg

Congrats on your promotion. A great start to the new year.

Great heeled oxfords. They need be worn with LONG bootcuts to create perfect pant lengths. But straights and skinnies will work too. Or wear hosiery to sport with skirts and dresses.
