Happy Easter all! I planned this outfit weeks ago to showcase this gorgeous silk shawl, a Chinese New Year gift from a friend just returned from China. But all the compliments I received this morning were for the hat!

The elements: navy linen sheath dress, the shawl knotted at the back of my waist, nude pumps, hat and flower ornament. This is the day I bid goodbye to winter outerwear and break out the trench coat. Today is damp and chilly so I'm glad for the removable lining.

Bonus pick, shawl knotted at the side. I intend to wear it this way to a wedding on the May 24/Victoria Day weekend, hoping it's warm enough to bare one arm. Does it work?

Second set of pics: what I am wearing now by the fire, and will wear tonight at the community hymn sing. I will be one of 20 guitarists strung across the front of the room. Tunic shirt dress and floral skimmer jeans, both old from Gap. Shoes are Tom's thrifted this week, obviously never worn. I have been looking for taupe booties for years but think I'd hesitate to wear them in snow. I think these scratch that itch, bookend my now-light hair, and give me toning options for my white jeans.
