Ladies, I'm overwhelmed. Thank you all so much for these lovely words. I must admit that this birthday was a tough one, as the year ahead looks very daunting on a variety of levels. But a friend of mine spontaneously decided to trek down from the burbs (Thorn Hill, for those who care) just to take me out for Indian food. Returning from that meal to find your touching comments has helped salvage the day and left me feeling much more hopeful about the months ahead.
Inge and Angie, particular thanks to you for your extra kind words.
I can't tell you all what your support has meant to me these past few months. Women like you are gifts, birthday and otherwise, all year long.

I so get that it was a day of very mixed emotions, Michelle, and I'm so glad that our birthday wishes could help make you feel a little lighter. Bless your sweet friend for that impromptu outing. Indian food and a good friend to share with sounded like just the ticket.
