Happy Birthday Angie! I owe you and the amazing community you have built a huge debt. You have taught me so much, given me a bit more confidence to experiment and express myself, and helped me let go of some of my self-judgement.

Today’s outfit is a demonstration of this. It makes me happy (COVID hair and all…) because:

(1) I made the shirt. My Lockdown treat was an online Custom Drafted t-shirt pattern class. This is my first wearable result. It is the best fitting T shirt I own. I still have some tweaks, but have learned a tremendous amount – including some pesky fit issues I didn’t understand. A goal this year has been more thought and less consumption in all my habits. Sewing my own clothes will help on both fronts. My version of SLOW Fashion.

(2) It is the first yellow thing I can remember EVER wearing. I fell in love with the fabric and bought some on spec, hoping DD would like it. She rejected it. So I thought – why not give yellow a try. Then I saw the green matched my Old Navy pants [(a) Wide Legs, b) Crops - two more of my YLF never-say-nevers ]. The concept of JFE (Just Flattering Enough) has been so liberating!

I’ve named it my “When Life Gives You Lemons” shirt, in honor of what I am trying to make a philosophy of, staying positive and finding silver linings in these trying times.

Angie – thank you for expanding my horizons and providing a safe and happy place in this world. Many happy returns.

I am posting and running but will come back later today to enjoy everyone else’s tributes to Angie’s entering the next best decade. Much Love to all of you out there.

(P.S. Just had to add the photo of my perfect end to topstitching at the back neckline for the sewists out there. I have to work on keeping even with the edge, but still #inordinatelyproud.)
