Thank you so much everyone! You are all super sweet and your birthday wishes made it that much more special.
I had a FAB birthday! It was actually a birthday weekend. I had lunch on Friday with a friend at school that I hadn't seen in a few weeks, so we had a chance to catch up. Then Patience and Sarah treated me to my first pedicure ever, which was SO sweet and really fun. It was so relaxing and my toes look really nice. I got a french manicure. I will definitely have to go back and get one when sandal weather hits again. Then we cruised around the mall and went to J. Crew and tried stuff on. I found a black ruffly neck A-line dress that I love, and it got the thumbs up from Sarah and Patience. It jumped to the top of my "to buy for fall" list. We also went to Nordstrom and had a look around. Patience showed us a La Rok jacket that she has her eye on (it will look great on her). Then, Friday night I went to a joint party for me and two of our other friends, since we all have birthdays within a week of each other. I don't have photos of my outfit right now, but I will post some soon. I wore a silk gold and black print silk dress with my black boyfriend cardigan belted over the top. I also did the smoky eye and nude lipstick as Kyle suggested! I felt very mod.
Saturday, which was my actual birthday, I just lounged around and generally relaxed, which was so nice! No homework all weekend. I hit some thrift stores and a resale shop, and I found this jacket, which Brendan bought for me:

(sorry for all the junk around, we were cleaning out closets and things). Normally that color would wash me out, but I think it's kind of neat and warm-- it matches my hair. I think the texture keeps it from just making me disappear. It's like a butterscotch boucle and has some sleeve hair and 3/4 sleeves, just like I wanted. It also has a V neck instead of the more traditional round neck, which I think we all agreed made me look matronly. I'm still figuring out what to wear it with. I want to keep the look really fresh and kind of edgy. Cream skinny jeans instantly popped to mind (I'm determined to find or make some), with caramel colored boots. I think I might also mess up my hair a little more, maybe make it stick up or something, since I'm sort of getting the "candidate's wife" vibe with the pencil skirt and polished hairdo. I might get the sleeves taken in as well, but I haven't played with how that would look yet. Any suggestions on blouses to wear under it/bottoms to go with it would be appreciated! I'll probably make a separate post about that tomorrow.
Brendan also got me this ring from J. Crew (hee hee Maya, you knew I couldn't resist):

You can see it in the photo of the jacket also. And I got lovely cards and phone calls from family and friends, and got a chance to relax. This was definitely one of my best birthdays ever. Thank you everyone!
