I make jewelry. I use sterling silver and gold fill, and sometimes 14k gold or white gold, if I'm making something really special. I stick with semi-precious gemstones (and have used sapphires in the past as well) and pearls; I don't use plastic, glass, crystal or spacer beads in my work.
I have never really sold my jewelry, although I make a lot for friends and family. I have done one set of bridesmaid jewelry, and right now I am making a bridal necklace and earrings for a cousin, and I might do her bridesmaid jewelry as well. The only time I have sold my jewelry was when I made a friend a sapphire and 14k white gold bracelet--I charged her for the materials because they were so expensive. I have also sold jewelry as a fundraiser for the animal rescue group I volunteer with. I get a lot of compliments from random people on the street, so I have considered selling my stuff on a larger scale.
