Wow! Great storage idea, MaryK! I have mine lined up in a little bin on the closet shelf, but then I don't do a different bag every day. I stuff mine with paper like they had when purchased, so they don't lose their shape.

Cjh, I don't change my handbag every day either but I'm thinking if I had them all in one place, easily accessible, and visible, then I might be motivated to actually switch more often. I don't actually carry that much stuff (although some of it is bulky so i still need a bigger bag) so changing around is not very difficult. I'm just lazy.

Lynne, thanks for the links. Angie's system is gorgeous but unfortunately I don't have enough visible or easily accessible shelf space in my closet to organize all my bags like that.

Ah, I copied Angie's method. If I had a good door to use, I'd try Mary's, too.

Diana, how many bags do you need to store? I don't have a large number (8 - 10, not counting clutches) and here's what I do.

I put large 3M Command hooks on two walls of my compact, step-in closet (to call it a "walk-in" would be an exaggeration). These can be used even if you're renting and can't put holes in the wall: http://www.amazon.com/Command-....._lmf_tit_1

That holds maybe five of my bags. The other five or so are lined up on a shelf in a smaller closet. Taking a tip from Angie, I keep them from falling over by taking a plastic bag, stuffing it with crumpled newspaper (or other plastic bags) until it's about the size of the bag's interior, tying it shut, and stuffing it inside the bag as a filler.

When I change bags, I just grab the plastic bag from inside the one I'm going to use and put it inside the one I'm rotating out. If a bag is too floppy to sit on the shelf even with the stuffing inside it, I hang it on one of the hooks.

Eek, OK, apparently I have more bags than I thought! I just counted and there are 17 that get used with some regularity, although two are pretty much for summer only. A couple of these might need to get retired. Then there are a few more (like, around 5 I think) in the closet that I probably should post a K/T thread on. And three small formal wear bags that are stored separately and don't get used as much.

So why do I always think I have no bags????

Question for Mary and Shannon and anyone else who has the hanging strip thingy: do you think I can hang it on the OUTSIDE of my closet door? The insides of both doors are already occupied, and as it is I cannot really close one of them (which has scarves and belts to overflowing hanging on the inside of the door).

Diana, if you have 17 bags but often feel that you have no bags, maybe you have a number of bags that just don't work for you?

April, I have generally two bag capsules (not counting formal): big ones for work, and smaller/medium ones for weekends/evenings. The big ones get used more often (5X a week and sometimes on weekends too when I am feeling too lazy to switch or have to carry a lot) and a couple of them are only borderline large enough. The problem is that the two capsules are the same size approximately right now. I'm actually OK with having that many smaller bags, they do get used, and I haven't bought a new one in like 3 years. What I keep wanting is more big bags though realistically I have plenty of those too. There is one specific thing I have wanted for a long time (a lightweight, probably fabric/nylon, flap front black crossbody messenger) so if I find the perfect one I might buy it, but otherwise I think I should stop buying bags!

(Hey, look at that, I am thinking in capsules!!!!)

ETA: I did just post K/T for the 6 (not counted in the 17 above) unused bags in my closet though.

Hey Diana! Sorry I didn't see this thread before.

Of course you could hang it on the outside of a door. It actually makes the handbags looks very neat and tidy and it's nice to see them all "on display", making it easy to pick which one you want to use and no possibility of forgetting you have this colour or that colour, you know?
