Handbag shopping suggestions

I am finishing up my PhD and want to buy myself a handbag as a reward. I don't have a huge budget so was thinking around the $500 mark.

I currently have a Michael Kors large Hamilton tote. I'd like something a bit smaller- mid size rather than large.

It's heading into spring here in Aus so I'd like a lighter colour.

I'd appreciate any suggestions

What kind of handbag are you looking for? Is there a particular style or shape you'd like to go with? And what kind of material do you want it to be made of?

I'm biased because I just bought Rae's Brahmin and LOVE it... I'm not a bag gal but this bag makes me googly-eyed. It's durable and well made and seems like it will last for the rest of my life. Check out the current styles - within your budget and well worth it for the price!

In that price range I would look at Rebecca Minkoff, Marc Jacobs, Brahmin.... also Coach but I can't figure out how to save their pics.

Congratulations Megan - that's a huge accomplishment.
I know it's outside your price range, but I'm thinking you need a Chanel bag to crown this achievement. Will last forever. White - since you're heading into summer.

Congrats on finishing your PhD! Those last few months are brutal, so you definitely deserve a reward. I did the same thing when I finished mine about a year and a half ago. After I got home from celebrating, I ordered myself a Kate Spade satchel I'd had my eye on for months - I even splurged on overnight shipping. Mine is on the smaller size, but they have other options in your price range.

Lots of options thank you ladies.

I'm still revising drafts so having a reward to look forward to at the end is necessary- this last part is a hard slog.

My PhD is in psychology- specifically in the reliability of memory in children and adults.

I would LOVE a Chanel but not working while I finish up is pretty hard on the savings account- maybe I can get one as a celebration when I get my first 'real' job
